Positive Feedback

I'm not a fan of gauges like this when you can get a mitutoyo multi anvil micrometer and have a more versatile tool for about the same cost.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Mitutoyo maintains high-quality instruments
Mitutoyo is still putting out the great instruments they always have.
How is the body attatched to the head? Anyone have one?
To get straight to the point, these are OK, its like if the Sony XB series had a Redbull (not steroids) and had a little more energy, not dynamically different.
Some users find the mic quality acceptable
mine sound fine and I don’t get any of the sidetone hissing that people are complaining about.
Definitely much better than the average headset mic tho.
Users appreciate the headset's secure fit
they don't just fall off easily or anything.
Mitutoyo micrometers are praised for precision and ease of reading.
Mitutoyo digital is definitely the go-to for precision and ease of reading.
I love the look and feel of them.
So easy to use and so repeatable.
They’re the best IMO.
Good deal on a vintage Mitutoyo micrometer
I picked up this Mitutoyo micrometer up at a flee market for $8, it is still sealed in its plastic packaging and the logo tells me its from 1962 - 1965.
8$ for it, I'd think you got a steal especially since it's still in package.
Durability and long-lasting quality of Mitutoyo tools
Yep, I've been using my grandfather's old Starret 0-1 mic from the early 50's for 16 years and it calibrates to the tenth every year.
Mitutoyo micrometers are recommended for quality and reliability
I know a digital one is probably better but I don't trust them.
Pretty much any mitutoyo micrometer would be a good one.
Vernier scale is appreciated for its usability
The vernier on the mics aren't too bad, in fact that model was my go to at work where I'm often going in the +-.001.
Digital features enhance measurement convenience
why would you not want to have that needle that tells you how close or far you are from the nearest thousandth?
quick and easy to read, taking multiple measurements and writing or typing them is just easier when it's already written out
it's faster to read, the metric/us unit button is VERY handy
when you have the ability to instantly measure something in either system accurate to a couple thou, why risk doing unit conversions in your head all the time?
High accuracy and reliability
It's amazing help.
Mitutoyo tools maintain calibration for some users
Mine still holds things pretty square when I’m welding.
Ultrasonic cleaning can restore functionality
And if they get dirty, throw them in the ultrasonic cleaner.
Mitutoyo tools are consistently high quality.
Is some thing like a Mitutoyo better for most accurate readings?
Expensive, but I use them constantly.
Seeing that the mitutoyo is a few hundred thousandths of error vs 9 ten thousandths in the cheaper tool makes me feel better.
Effective serum application with proper technique
I love it.
I am so happy.
Microneedling is good but it's not that good lol.
the serum come out no problem.
Users report satisfaction with results
Each time the serum comes out slowly. It does not flow.

Gauges like this are less versatile compared to other options
I'm not a fan of gauges like this when you can get a mitutoyo multi anvil micrometer and have a more versatile tool for about the same cost.
Inconsistent mic quality reported by users
I sound far, muffled and like a $2 mic.
Sidetone feature is problematic for some users
Only really the sidetone bugging me atm, other than that i love the headset.
Lever is unresponsive and takes too long to extend for measurements
it takes too long for the 3 points to extend out to take measurements, makes it hard to use.
i just tried cleaning them as best i could with a rag with iso but is still the same.
High precision may be unnecessary for hobbyists
Unless youre doing grinding (as in, cylindrical or surface grinding) regularly, theres no need to chase this sort of precision.
Unless you are doing unusually precise and complicated work at home, chances are resolutions of .0001" is overkill.
Calibration issues after minimal use
Hot take: Mitutoyo micrometers are actually trash.
Serum flow is slow and inconsistent
For the amount of money I expected it to be designed better, or at least for the serum to be basically magic.
Yeah, it was impossible to find reviews that weren’t paid before purchasing.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Mention of another brand (Sylvac) in the market
Sylvac. Best on the market.
Discussion on the importance of quality in measurement tools
Still good to check the quality of what you buy.
Differences between digital and dial calipers are discussed
If you've got a part where a difference of 5 tenths is enough to make it go or no-go, then you sure as shit won't be using calipers to take that measurement, you'll use a micrometer with at least 0.0001" accuracy.
Zero function. Allows machinists to work towards zero value instead of having to subtract from starting value.
Discussion on micro-needling versus micro-infusion
Micro needling or micro infusion?? THX
Users share personal experiences and ages
The Qure products ...mask & micro needling.... are helping me maintain what I already have.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Mention of using earphones while working on machining tasks
The boredom of pulling the quill down to drill holes, then deburring has been greatly reduced!
Humorous suggestions for calibration workarounds
Just put a "for reference only" sticker on it any you're back in business.
If that sticker is good enough for an ISO audit, it's good enough for me.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion of alternative micrometer options and pricing
I was also looking at groove micrometers because of their versatility, but they are $$$.
Don’t pay the inflated Brownell’s price, this is really just a starrett 207z can-seam micrometer.
Discussion about the longevity of precision tools
What is the purpose of the extra thin anvils?
Inquiry about compatibility of micrometer parts
I notice, however, how relatively inexpensive the manual analog ones are.
Suggestions for purchasing Mitutoyo tools
Msc is where i get my mine, got browne and sharpe and mitutuyo from them.
it is still often the fastest way to get tools unless you have a MSC account with next day shipping.
Discussion about cleaning and maintaining the bore gauge
It’ll be good as new.
The anvils get gummed up.
Squirt a bit of iso on the anvils and work the action a few times, should free up.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Trolls may increase negative reviews
Ramen shop owner places bounty on heads of negative reviewers.
Knowing the internet this is just going to invite trolls to make further 1 star reviews lmao.
Concerns about Starrett's declining quality
their QC seems to have tanked in the last year or so and we scrap almost 3% of our Starrett heads as soon as they're out of the box.
I always rooted for starret, but they're really not making a great case for themselves.
I am actually in talks with Mitutoyo right now but they don't make a small 2" range head.
Users discuss various brands and models of micrometers.
Incredible accuracy if you want to buy a pack to fill your capabilities.
Suggestions for fixing tight thimble issue
if you were to watch the MTI repair guy fix the tight thimble, you'd choke.
Concerns about counterfeit Mitutoyo products
I'm looking to buy a real mitutoyo caliper, but I'm leery of most resellers as I know there are a lot of forgeries out there.
Cause he wants Mitutoyo calipers, but not Mitutoyo prices.
A bit late when you have spent a whole year sending undelivered birthday cards, or in a machinists case, by the time you have scrapped a £100 hunk of stock due to an incorrect measurement.
Users discuss advice for fixing seized Mitutoyo micrometers
Can anyone give advice on fixing my Mitutoyo Micrometer that is seized to the point of being stuck?
Twist it open instead of closed
It looks like the thumb lock is missing. Are you sure it didn't break off in the locked position?
its been seized up and immovable for a week or so.
Discussion about micrometer repair techniques
Does anyone have any information regarding micrometer repair that can be done in house?
It's not Mitutoyo specific but it might be helpful.
In other words the most basic of repairs... And even then the mic may not be accurate.
Discussion about potential repairs for the micrometer head
Any suggestion on how I can replace the micrometer head?
Probably get a nice new mitutoyo for 3 bills.
There may be no need to replace anything: just remove the gunk created by people oiling it.
If it's so bent you can't remove it then you might be SOL.
User shares excitement about trying out golf clubs for the first time
I ended up buying another 30 because I was having so much fun.
