It features enhanced head protection with a hybrid construction that combines an ABS shell with EPP and EPS foam for superior impact absorption. Consumer feedback highlights both positive and negative aspects of the helmet. Many users appreciate its lightweight nature, with one noting, "Light enough that you forget that you have it on." What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Super light and comfortable fit
Light enough that you forget that you have it on.
I already love how light it is and I like how the foam won't crack like other types of foam used in helmets.
Durable and tough construction
Sooo light.

Helmet not dual certified for climbing and alpine skiing
What are y’all using for helmets? I had a petzl meteor most recently that got squashed in luggage.
Look for dual certified helmets, with proper climbing and alpine ski certification CE 1077.
Real men don't use helmets.
Helmet uncomfortable on head
They do have vents along the top as well so they’re not too bad in the summer time, just avoid black and it shouldn’t be any hotter than any other helmet
I really don't like the way it sits on my head during the summer. It is just uncomfy.
It's more comfortable for long term wear.
Helmet feels heavy
I found it heavy, but maybe removing the face shield would make it a fair bit lighter.
Helmet is bulky and has a loose fit
the fit is much looser than your typical sport helmet
Its a bit bulky and I find the chin strap sits too far forward to be comfortable
No foam to protect from rockfall/impacts, way too big/bulky and you'll find the ratchets don't hold very well

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about various helmet options for caving
Everyone talks about the **Ecin Roc** from Petzl, but they don't make it anymore.
Both helmets are good and lots of cavers use them as well as myself.
There are caving helmets other than an ecin roc?
Discussion about comfort and safety of helmets
What is the big draw to these helmets all if a sudden?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Humorous take on helmet modifications
Man, I wish my brother would do something like this. If he took a sharpie to my helmet it'd just be a bunch of dicks.

Discussion about transportation methods for helmets
Wondering how you good folks transport your Petzl helmets between gigs etc so they don’t become footballs on trucks etc
Put it in one of the last cases on the truck, or bungee it to the wall of the truck.
I have it in my car just lying around, it should be able to take that or I’m losing a lot of trust in that.
Discussion about affordable caving helmets
I am looking for a not to expensive caving-helmet where our old duo-led headlights will be mointed up on.
Net helmets all the way.
If your only criteria is that you can mount an old duo to it then just about any helmet can be made to work, you'll probably want to be more specific with your requirements.
Another vote for the Edelrid Ultralight helmets. Hits all the marks for club gear-- durable, adjustable, easy to clean, and super affordably priced.
General comments on helmet sizing and fit
Not everyone working in an outdoor shop is a climber or caver so check what they give you.
I didn't notice it being wide, only "taller" (bigger gap above my head).
Inquiries about suitability for sport climbing
I just don't know if there would be any drawbacks to using it as a sport climbing helmet.

Cautionary Callouts

Discussion about various helmets for climbing and outdoor activities.
Helmets What helmets do people recommend for year round usage, from summer climbing to winter mountaineering and climbing?
I use the Petzl Meteor. I like it quite a lot.
Mammut has a new triple certified helmet coming out next year they just previewed at [ISPO to be the replacement to the Wall Rider].
It doesn't feel as solid as my SP Ascender MIPS. I'm a bit paranoid in that department as I have had a few concussions while snowboarding despite wearing a helmet.
Discussion about lightweight ski helmets
Take a look at Sweet Protection Ascender (Dual Cert, Good ventilation, headlamp holders and more) and Smith Summit (Same as above and more), using SP Ascender for some time now and have no complaints.
I use the meteor as well right now, for the slightly better fall protection compared to a 'pure' climbing helmet.
This right here. I love mine, it's great.
Discussion about visor and earmuff compatibility issues.
Either the visor is too high to properly protect or the earmuffs won't seal.
Discussion about various helmets for climbing and outdoor activities
Opinions on helmets Hi Guys, Need some help choosing between 2 Petzl helmets, the Strato Vent and Vertex Vent.
Kask helmets are always breaking
All of this might be bs, bc I used Vertex for a week of L1 training and can just remember it wrong. Btw, can't see any difference in safety, use etc except visual style and way it looks/sits on your head.
Are they Petzl? Those are nice helmets. I see arborists wearing them all the time where I'm from.
Concerns about helmet standards and safety requirements
I believe for working in heights I require a chin strap but I’m not sure.
I was told by our OSHA guy that mine can't be vented because wires could reaching and touch my scalp.
Interest in chin strap for safety
Corporate is making us switch to climbing helmets. They are surprisingly comfortable chin strap included.
Concerns about modifying helmets
Hahahah. One thwack on a tree branch would introduce significantly more “weakness”.
Discussion about experiences with different helmets
Has anyone had any first-hand experience with the Petzl Sirocco helmet? I'm tempted to buy it, and I was curious what climbers here on /r/climbing had to say regarding it.
