What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Lightweight and comfortable design
Whatever you buy, make sure it fits your head well!
I just want something lightweight and somewhat protective.
This right here. I love mine, it's great.
Overall: it's excellent, well worth the money despite the gripes.
Offers better side impact protection
It offers better side impact protection which a lot of cheaper hard shell helmets lack.
Comfortable fit for various head shapes
Does anybody have experience with this helmet from a non-industrial climbing perspective?
Enhanced side and top protection
Construction helmets aren't made like a rope helmet, which aren't made like rescue helmets.
Comfortable fit for different head shapes
Can also change the breaking strain of the chin stap for confined space work/rescue.
Comfortable for long-term wear
The Petzl Vertex is pricy, but I really love mine. Standard hardhats tend to give me a headache after a few hours, no such issues with the petzl.
I love my Vertex Vent, and have had it for about 4 or 5 years now of light use.
Good build quality and durability
Seeing that Petzl sells replacement foam parts and etc is great since it will make my helmet last longer.
Good fit for various head shapes
Fits perfectly and doesn't fall down to any side.
Surprisingly comfortable with chin strap included
Corporate is making us switch to climbing helmets. They are surprisingly comfortable chin strap included.
Super lightweight design
Has anyone had any first-hand experience with the Petzl Sirocco helmet?
Durable construction
Sooo light.
Good ventilation for long rides
Incredibly well ventilated, so i only wear my regular helmet on extremely hot rides.
Adjustable fit for various head shapes
Very good helmet. Has an adjustable fit which is uncommon for full faces.
Effective breathability during use
I have the mips version and it’s incredibly light and breathable.

Not certified for alpine ski standards
Look for dual certified helmets, with proper climbing and alpine ski certification CE 1077.
Difficulty achieving a good fit with attachments
This makes it so the visor rubs the muffs when i have both down and its really annoying trying to get both to fit properly.
I almost opt to not wear the visor for that very reason, but I will be upgrading to a Kask Zenith helmet with the work4 sena unit.
Either the visor is too high to properly protect or the earmuffs won't seal.
Not comfortable for long term wear
Personally, I got rid of my petzl and switched to a studson helmet. It's more comfortable for long term wear.
Tends to fall down to one side
my problem with helmets is they tend to fall down to one side while I'm doing basically anything.
Accessories are cool but not worth the switch
All the accessories for them are cool but it just doesn’t look and feel right to me.
Bulky design
Never climbed in one but I wouldnt want to
way too big/bulky and you'll find the ratchets don't hold very well if the helmet is well used

Inquiry about helmet recommendations for varied uses
Helmets What helmets do people recommend for year round usage, from summer climbing to winter mountaineering and climbing?
I use the Petzl Meteor. I like it quite a lot.
Mammut has a new triple certified helmet coming out next year they just previewed at [ISPO to be the replacement to the Wall Rider].
I will say though, it doesn't feel as solid as my SP Ascender MIPS.
Discussion on helmet recommendations for climbing
I'd like to stay under $60. However, I'd pay more if it meant saving my life.
Get the $100 black diamond one. The super ultralight ones little brother.
I have the BD half dome. super comfy to me.
It won’t be long until we’re all mandated to wear the bicycle helmet get down, I’m afraid…
Discussion on helmet recommendations for various activities
What are y’all using for helmets? I had a petzl meteor most recently that got squashed in luggage.
using SP Ascender for some time now and have no complaints, slightly heavier than standard climbing helmet but still light and can use for few different activities.
Skull guard is what your looking for of the company your working for doesn't require their own hat.
Discussion on transportation methods for helmets
Wondering how you good folks transport your Petzl helmets between gigs etc so they don’t become footballs on trucks etc
Put it in one of the last cases on the truck, or bungee it to the wall of the truck.
I have it in my car just lying around, it should be able to take that or I’m losing a lot of trust in that.
Discussion on different helmet brands and models
I'm into my second Protos now.
Discussion comparing Petzl helmets
Opinions on helmets Hi Guys, Need some help choosing between 2 Petzl helmets, the Strato Vent and Vertex Vent.
Kask helmets are always breaking
All of this might be bs, bc I used Vertex for a week of L1 training and can just remember it wrong.
Inquiry about recommendations for different types of helmets
KASK is CSA and ANSI rated as both a hard hat and climbing helmet if you like that style.
Discussion on helmet recommendations
My only two complaints about it are the plastic outer shell is a softer type of material so it dents fairly easy and the other complaint is the tensioner on the back.
Inquiries about different helmet models
Wondering if the vertex vent would run any bigger than that?
There are caving helmets other than an ecin roc?
Discussion on the transition to climbing helmets
What is the big draw to these helmets all if a sudden?
Discussion on personal fit and customization of helmets
Arai fits everyone because they make different helmets for different head shapes and have a level of customization for the fit that only Shoei is able to match.
I was at my local store for over an hour trying on various helmets with a guy, walking around in them for 5+ minutes shaking my head around and looking all over the place to find a good fit.
Discussion on affordability and quality of different helmet brands
Not Ruroc. Ruroc is overpriced and trash quality.
Arai costs 2 kidneys and a mortgage in my country and my level of income lol otherwise it's a great helmet for me.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on helmet types for rescue operations
because of that, I used - just like the other team members - climbing helmets all the time.
it’s unlikely that UIAA meets any workplace saftey standards.
none that I'm aware of have a means of securing the helmet to your head.
Discussion on standards for various working environments
I believe for working in heights I require a chin strap but I’m not sure.
Thanks!
Most of that hearing comes from motorcyclists, but I imagine the concepts still apply.
Concerns about helmet modifications affecting safety
Sadly any addition to a helmet can introduce weak spots in the material and make it less resilient, please don't wear it for climbing! 1/2
