Adjustable sizes for growing kids
My daughters started at 3 with those toy inlines like Spider-Man and Frozen.
Can I use kids inline skates for small women's feet? I am a size UK 3 (US 5/EU 36) and I'm struggling to find women's skates that would fit me.
You absolutely can use kids skates and will likely be saving money if you do.
I was looking at the RollerBlade MicroBlade, really wanted the teals ones but they are very hard to find it seems like.
Comfortable fit for kids
My 10 year old has the rollerblade microblade. He says it's comfortable.
Kids skates are not built to same tolerances as adult skates. So if you have a small foot and are a smaller adult you would probably be okay.
Comfortable fit for long skating sessions
I use them to skate up to 12 miles at a time with no discomfort.
Great for kids with natural balance skills
I'm planning on picking up some skates for his birthday so I can teach him, and that's where I'm in trouble.
If he has a natural talent for balance then I would say go with the aggressive skates Without Brakes.
Encourages skill development without brakes
Skating in parks with a brake would be a hinder on ability and more likely his own development.

Rollerblades are relatively expensive to buy
There are documentaries on this topic, but from my experience it had such a peak and fall because:
Poor quality materials in kids' skates
Definitely not safe for an adult. The plates and trucks are made of cheap plastic and can very easily break under the weight of an adult.
Pro tip: anything with plastic trucks is automatically a bad idea.
I wholeheartedly support not using these kids skates citing the reasons everyone else has mentioned.
Quality issues with certain brands
It’s not the brand but the type of skate.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on the importance of proper sizing for skates
I noticed you gave a figure of what size your feet are but you don't seem very sure of it, lol.
Discussion on the quality of childhood roller skates
I see your old skates and I raise you the weird adjustable fisher price skates that fit over your shoes.
My dumb self always took my shoes off for these and I wondered why they hurt my feet.
I had those! They were awful but so cool looking at the time.
I clopped around in these exact things while my older siblings whizzed by me on their sweet roller blades.

Rollerblading helps build balance and lower leg muscles for skating.
Rollerblading will help build his balance as well as the lower leg muscles necessary for skating.
Skills from rollerblading can aid in transitioning to ice skating.
It will also help with the fundamentals of pushing off, when i learned to ice skate i used all the skills i had from growing up rollerblading.
Rollerblading is a fun alternative to ice skating for kids.
If he likes ice skating he will have a blast rollerblading.

Athletic fundamentals are key for young children learning ice skating.
If he is 3 the best thing you can do to help him is to work on athletic fundamentals.
K2 skates are widely available and affordable.
They are cheap, widely available, comfortable, and have assisted tens of thousands of people get into rollerblading.
K2 still makes comfy fitness skates which are very good for anyone new to the sport.
They are widely available and the normal average person who starts skating are not looking on reddit or YouTube.
Comparison of Rollerblade with other brands.
Hopefully these K2s will work well, and fit properly.
Discussion about kids' first skates
My first skates were those Fischer Price adjustable quads that strapped over your sneakers.
Decathlon is your friend in this context, they have a good selection of kids beginner skates and they all have urethane wheels too
They have brakes behind each skate that will prevent them from falling backwards.
Recommendations for beginner inline skates
Flying Eagle and Micro for decent beginner blades.
FR brand skates are great and run the gamut of sizes, i recommend you get the FR 1,2 or 3 model as they come with an upgrade to their mounting system making them easier to upgrade further later but ya can’t go wrong with any of their boots!
Discussion about availability of small-sized quality skates
Can anyone recommend something a bit better quality that comes in a small enough size?
As far as I can tell, the smallest size for their models is children's size 9, and all models have a normal inline setup.
Discussion on alternative skate options
there are some hardboot options from Powerslide, and Roces, think they even make a tri wheel for kids.
Community guidelines reminder
Reminder: r/rollerblading is a community for bladers of all skill levels, disciplines, and backgrounds.
Lack of resources for teaching rollerblading to kids
Doesn't help that he's tall and skinny and basically my size when he's on skates.
Tutorials lacking on youtube? Really?
They even provide a printable checklist of the skill progression, which makes it easier to know when you're ready to keep moving on.
Debate on using brakes for kids learning to skate
Thanks! I think you're right...he'll probably be able to pick it up pretty quick so probably best to just go with the aggressive skates.
Taught my cousin's kids to skate with brakes off and taught them to drag a foot sideways behind them to slow/stop...it proved easier than getting the youngest to remember to point his toe up when panicking trying to stop.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about the quality of no-name skates.
Absolutely don't ever buy this brand, anyone.
The problem is a lot of people buy no-name skates off amazon that fall apart or aren't comfortable that never get used.
Debate on brand reputation and consumer experiences.
Poweslide and rollerblade are skate specific brands. K2 is an extreme sports brand.
Just because K2 didn't choose to pick a new brand name for each sport they make products for doesn't mean they are bad.
Concerns about quality of certain brands.
That Pacer does not look very good... Unknown and therefore unreliable brand.
Pacer brand quad skates are also low quality but fine for 80lb kids.
Concerns about durability of kids skates for heavier users
They should run true-to-size and be of more-or-less medium/average width.

Rollerblading has declined in popularity over the years
rollerblades seem to have vanished into thin air.
E-bikes/scooters/skateboards, one-wheels. Even when I was a kid 20 years ago at the skatepark rollerblades weren’t really that “in”.
bladers are extremely few and far between, would be a refreshing change from the scooter kids.
Discussion on brands and safety concerns
Is it dangerous for a grown adult to use kid's roller skates or like, the worst that can happen is it to get old sooner?
Also nothing cringe about wanting pink and white or anything considered "girly" skates.
Durability concerns for kids' skates compared to adults
As u/HeartsofOakNY pointed out, one of the main issues is going to be one's overall size (more specifically, one's overall weight) relative to one's foot size.
Discussion on various skate brands and types
I have not used official rollerblades, and wondered what peoples opinions are.
My recommendation for you is the newest FR2 or Twister edge or Mexxum edge.
