Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Interest in casual rollerblading community
I just discovered that I really like rollerblading and just enjoying the city and people.
RIP Melody Skateland
I haven't met up with them, but I did stumble on this a couple months ago - https://www.meetup.com/circle-city-skate-crew/
I rollerblade the monon a few times a week and rollerblade my commute fairly often.
Discussion on alternatives to popular brands
I'm considering this for my niece and I found this article helpful!

Discussion on age suitability for roller skating
Little kid roller skates My niece is turning 4 and I’d like to get her some skates so she can learn.
Recommendations for current skating venues
It reminds me of a mini sports with modern arcade games bowling batting cages and good food and its BYOB.
Discussion on alternative skate types for young kids
I see they have some weird trike looking skates that seems like a useless gimmick marketed at going kids.
Decathlon is your friend in this context, they have a good selection of kids beginner skates and they all have urethane wheels too.
The wheels are real urethane - not hard, cheap plastic - this gives it some roll and makes it more comfortable.
My daughters started at 3 with those toy inlines like Spider-Man and Frozen.
Discussion on local skating venues in Brooklyn
Skating in Brooklyn? Hi! I’m new to rollerskating but was wondering if there are any others on here who live in Brooklyn & know of any good spots to get together & skate?
everyone was amazing at skating when I was there.
Thank you so much! I’ll check all these out!
I’ve also been to the 2 outdoor rinks here—Brooklyn Bridge park but I didn’t like the rubbery/plastic surface; and Le Frak CTR in prospect park is great but will be ice skating soon.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Clarification on skating terminology.
Hi, I just recently learnt, that the sport I'm doing is in fact "inline skating" not "rollerskating".
If I'm being specific then "rollerblading/ rollerblades" for the 4 in a row ones and "rollerskating/ rollerskates" for the 4 in a square ones but if someone said they were going rollerskating then I saw them with the straight row style I wouldn't consider them incorrect.
Same. American.
Yeah, I would consider rollerblades to be a subset of roller skates.
Nostalgia for roller skating rinks
I miss going to a place on the weekends like this where as a middle schooler/teen you would feel like you were at a club, and as you skated around below the neon lights you felt alive.
Skaters World birthday parties were the shit growing up!
Sports world is the reason for my obsession with nightclubs/raves and my gambling addiction!
Thanks for the nostalgia!
Discussion on the decline of local skating venues
RIP Sportsworld. Its now a Raymour and flanagan.
In the Swing is also gone. RIP, absolutely loved that place.
I’m assuming In The Swing in Waldwick is closed now too?!
Good man! Might have to take a trip to see if its still there
