Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
The importance of skate quality for beginners.
I agree that the around $200 dollars is where you get good skates, but I also think the $100 dollar skates are good to see if you even like skating in the first place, while still getting a fair amount of learning in them.
I think a lot of “terrible rentals” actually just have absurdly tight trucks and that’s very simple to fix.
Discussion on the impact of K2 in the skating community
They are widely available and the normal average person who starts skating are not looking on reddit or YouTube.
Discussion about the importance of skate quality for beginners
I realized that some of the commentors were right she had this planned.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
The value of investing in quality skates versus cheap alternatives.
Overall, with skates you get what you pay for.
If one "just dabbling" and has a crap experience because of the skates they got for "an amazon steal," is it worth the effort?
K2's availability in stores influences purchasing decisions
K2 still makes comfy fitness skates which are very good for anyone new to the sport.
Concerns about skating experience and upgrades
They’re okay for beginners if you’re just looking to get a feel for skating.
Discussion on reliable brands for skates
And with these brands you cant go wrong.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about the quality of no-name skates
Absolutely don't ever buy this brand, anyone.
No hate and no shame if you do, I am just so curious.
Comparison of K2 with other brands and their market positions
Poweslide and rollerblade are skate specific brands. K2 is an extreme sports brand. They use their distribution channels to capture beginners before they reach other companies.
Other people do, get over yourself.
Discussion about the history of inline skating culture
Who is the Tony Hawk of inline skating? Are there any good books or documentaries about the sport or culture?
It leans into the conspiracy theory a bit too much while explaining why Rollerblading died, but lots of relevant information.
Any docs in that wheel house?
It's also a dope movie.
Discussion about the challenges of different skate types
Am I the only one who finds it harder to skate quads than inlines? When I got my quad skates and went skating with them for the first time, I found them much more difficult.
Quads are definitely harder. You’ve got four wheels that all move super independently, with inlines they all act as a unit.
I pretty firmly think most people will find quads more difficult. More rewarding (imo), but more difficult.
It's the length of the wheel base that makes quads 'squirrlier,' as your heel is behind your back wheel, where with inlines the wheel is behind your heels.
Discussion about terminology of skating and rollerblading
Hi, I just recently learnt, that the sport I'm doing is in fact "inline skating" not "rollerskating".
If I'm being specific then "rollerblading/ rollerblades" for the 4 in a row ones and "rollerskating/ rollerskates" for the 4 in a square ones.
Same. American.
Yeah, I would consider rollerblades to be a subset of roller skates.
Concerns about safety of strap-on skates for beginners
The ones with bigger wheels in the back are garbage.
Children participating in sports have better long term mental health.
Discussion about preferences for other brands
Moxie are the best but can be a little pricey. These should be fine to start.
Concerns about the reliability of specific brands
What is your opinion on rollerblades from the brand rollerblade? I'm thinking of getting a pair but my last ones (from k2) were incredibly shitty so I'm a bit nervous.
I just got some Rollerblades and I love them! They’re a solid brand imo
I've got Rollerblade Twisters and they're my favourite skates so far.
I just upgraded to Rollerblade Twisters and I love them. Hoping to get last me a long time.
Avoidance of Impala for long-term use
I'd encourage to stay away from impala if you want to skate long term.
