Snoop's Take

Tramontina Covered Stock Pot Gourmet Stainless Steel 12-Quart is a robust, heavy-duty cooking pot designed for large-scale meal prep and diverse cooking techniques. It offers premium 18/10 stainless steel construction and a tri-ply base that delivers even heating across all cooktops, including induction. Consumer sentiment is a mixed bag with overwhelming praise for its capacity and durability. Users love its bulk cooking capabilities with one declaring, 'I would buy the shit out of that,' while others appreciate its decade-long performance. However, some note concerns like salt-induced pitting and less-than-ideal handle ergonomics, tempering the otherwise solid reviews. Despite the gripes, the volume of positive feedback on its build and performance stands out. In conclusion, the Tramontina stock pot emerges as a recommended choice for anyone needing a versatile and durable large-capacity pot, even if a few quirks might prompt caution among perfectionists in cookware design.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
High capacity for bulk cooking and versatile use
Perfect for fresh sweetcorn.
You could cook 20 ears at once in this thing!
I think it can hold more than 20 ears.
I would buy the shit out of that. For crab boils, stock, corn, etc.
Long-lasting performance and durability
I’ve had it for about a decade and am well pleased with it.
It's been about 10 years or so and it still looks like new.
The stock pot part is an absolute tank.
I think the Tramontina is just as good at a much lower price.
Excellent quality triple-ply construction
the Tramontina is amazing quality for the money and I would recommend it (I cook heavily). Forget all clad in my opinion, you can get the entire tramontina set and a few supplemental pieces for the price of 2 all clad pans.
Superior handle design
The handle is 100x better than a cuisineart I tried.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Salt-induced pitting in stainless steel
Use fine salt when you want to salt boiling water.
Tramontina's steel quality is OK but it's also not *quite* as good as high-end brands.
you think stainless is going to be indestructible then you add some salt while cooking and this happens.
The notes about salt are really helpful.
Potential rivet/bolt durability concerns
Do you know if Tramontina or Cuisiart have the same problem?
it's just annoying having to throw away an otherwise perfectly functional pot.
Uncomfortable or less ergonomic handle design
These pans have taught me that I do not like rounded handles, I would much prefer a flat thin handle so pan doesn't slip when I'm trying to tilt and pour something out of it.

Comparisons favoring Cuisinart over Tramontina
I'm for cuisinart personally - just bought that set last week after doing my research.
To be honest I think the better move would be to save $100 and buy this Cuisinart set without the fillers.
Both are without a doubt good pieces of cookware - I think you should go and see them in the flesh.
I've been extremely happy with the FC series pots and pans for five years and counting.
Comparisons with other brands for Tramontina Dutch Ovens
for the price you can't beat Tramontina.
worth the price and quality.
the quality is so much better.
Le Creuset might replace it for you, worth trying.
Budget cookware buying advice and comparisons
The quality of you skillets matters a lot more than the quality of your saucepans.
I think this is a very interesting article by a very knowledgeable writer.
IMO it's better than both Kirkland and Tramontina (post-product line changes) and each piece is less than $40.
Usage and care advice queries
Why shouldn't you leave food sitting in a pan?
Do you have a recommendation for good quality but light to lift pots?
Cost-performance and buying advice
for the savings, completely worth it.
trying out Tramontina would be a smart move given the huge price difference.
Both seem to work well.
very happy with the price/performance of my cobbled together 'custom' set.
Affordable cookware sets feedback
I really like them. I’ve already fumbled with them once and they are still great.
Tri ply isn’t as nice as all clad but it has worked for me.
Fantastic bargain for 2 large stainless pans.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about Tramontina durability and exposed design
Just kept seeing reviews that tramontina was not made for long-term use.
If you wash in the dishwasher, I'm told the exposed aluminum later becomes sharp.
Positive feedback and durability inquiries on other Tramontina cookware
Absolutely no complaints at all. Best part is, with some Bar Keeper's Friend, it cleans up so easy, like new even.
I'm trying to get a durable one.
Unexpected surface discoloration
Otherwise great! Much better than expected.
