Snoop's Take

The Bakken-Swiss Deluxe 20-Quart Stainless Steel Stockpot is designed for both home cooks and culinary enthusiasts who need a reliable pot for simmering soups, stews, and more. With its impressive capacity and compatibility with various cooktops, this stockpot promises to elevate your cooking experience. Consumer feedback highlights a mix of strengths and weaknesses. Many users appreciate the "great size for stock, steaming and pasta," making it versatile for large batch cooking. However, some concerns were raised about the pot's sturdiness compared to higher-end brands, with one user stating, "that specific pot is junk" in comparison. Additionally, issues with the handles getting hot and the lid fitting poorly during simmering were noted. Overall, while the Bakken-Swiss stockpot has its drawbacks, especially in terms of handle safety and lid fit, it remains a recommended option for those seeking a spacious and lightweight stockpot for everyday cooking needs.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for stainless steel over enameled pots
I would just get stainless steel since it’s a lot more durable for the hard shell stuff.
I would buy an All-Clad D5 any day over the thin enameled LC stock pot.
Discussion on various cookware brands and their durability
I’d rather spend more for a quality set that will last.
buy expensive, it usually lasts.
It may be a bit more expensive, but Peter’s of Kensington often has it on sale.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Debate on stockpot size and functionality
I find it works best as a Braiser.
I use a 6 qt. stockpot for is steaming veggies.
What's funny is that the D3 6qt saute is the same pan as the stockpot, but with a long handle.
I sometimes use a 3qt saucepan to steam veggies, and when that pan is occupied with pasta or rice I'll instead use my 2qt saucier.
Recommendation to buy from restaurant supply stores for better value
The best stock pot you can buy will come from a restaurant supply store and cost 1/4 the price of LC.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Debate on cookware safety and materials
The whole 'non-toxic' thing is just marketing.
Discussion on cookware quality brands
Basically, I just want a set that's going to last, and isn't going to get scratched up the first time we use it.
All Clad D3, overkill for the pots but it's high quality stainless steel and should last a couple decades or more.
And if you're looking for a long lasting non stick pan just get a cast iron pan.
All Clad stainless steel is my recommendation.
