Snoop's Take

The Nilight Trailer Hitch Ball Mount is designed to provide a secure towing solution with a gross trailer weight capacity of up to 7,500 lbs. This heavy-duty hitch features a 2-inch drop and comes equipped with a 2-inch diameter ball and a 5/8-inch hitch pin clip, making it versatile for various towing needs including trailers, campers, and motorcycles. User feedback highlights the product's ease of installation, with one user stating, "Works like a charm," and another noting they installed it in less than two hours. Additionally, many consumers appreciate its affordability, finding it to be a satisfactory alternative to more expensive options, as one reviewer mentioned, "I cannot for the life of me see why someone would pay $400-$2,000 for a light." However, some users have reported issues such as bolts rusting quickly and water intrusion, suggesting a need for additional care in certain environments. Overall, despite some concerns about durability, the Nilight Trailer Hitch Ball Mount is recommended for those seeking an affordable and easy-to-install towing solution that meets most standard needs.

Discussion on lighting options and preferences
They can be pricey but they are extremely worth it (did my retrofits for about $300 iirc.
grab yourself a set of Hella 500FF ($60ish on Amazon) or 700FF (80ish on Amazon) and pop in 100w bulbs.

Discussion about aftermarket hitches and their usage
So I’m kinda torn….part of me wants a vehicle with no hitch so I’m certain it never got the wear and tear from towing, but the other part of me realizes if I get a dealer installed one, it’s a huge dollar add on.
You’d be surprised how many people have hitches and have never towed a thing. If the vehicle you are considering has a hitch, look to see if the paint is fresh or if it has light rust and paint chips inside the receiver.
We also bought the E trailers hitch and installed it ourselves. Easy enough. We then bought a cargo shelf for the hitch.
If they still have the little Toyota plug like in the 3rd pic, decent chance they haven't used the hitch, or used infrequently.
Interest in using lights for enhanced visibility while driving
how are these lights holding up? I'm thinking of sticking two of these in the grill of my Miata to light up the backroads at night

Cautionary Callouts

Discussion about various brands of hitch ball mounts
Make sure you use the correct sized ball for the trailer
If you turn a dropped ball mount upside down (to raise the ball height) the weight capacity drops to 50% of the marked capacity.
Discussion about sealing lights to prevent water intrusion
That’s what I hear is a must do with Amazon lights!
