Snoop's Take

The Nathan Swift Plus Hydration Belt is designed for runners and fitness enthusiasts who need convenient hydration and storage during their workouts. This ultra-light belt features a 10 oz flask, a zip pocket for essentials, and gel loops, ensuring that you can stay hydrated and carry your necessities without the bounce or discomfort associated with traditional belts. Consumer feedback indicates a mix of sentiments. While many appreciate the convenience of carrying essentials, with one user noting, "For those type of runs I usually carry a bottle of water in my hands and something like a chocolate bar in the belt just in case," others express concerns about comfort, stating that the belt can be "bouncy and uncomfortable during runs." Issues with bottle accessibility and complaints about the belt slipping or moving during runs also surfaced in user reviews, leading to divided opinions on its overall effectiveness. Considering the feedback, the Nathan Swift Plus Hydration Belt may suit some users for short to moderate runs but has significant drawbacks in comfort and stability reported by others. Therefore, potential buyers should weigh these factors based on their individual needs and preferences before making a decision.

I prefer my Nathan handheld. It's insulated to liquid stays cold (even on 10+ runs) and it holds more than my belt.

Positive Feedback

I would recommend either.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good hydration for long runs
I prefer my Nathan handheld. It's insulated to liquid stays cold (even on 10+ runs) and it holds more than my belt.
I often wish I had more.
Convenient for carrying essentials
For those type of runs I usually carry a bottle of water in my hands and something like a chocolate bar in the belt just in case.
Comfortable for carrying essentials
Having the double water bottles with the fanny pack distributes the weight evenly, though.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Bouncy and uncomfortable during runs
I would recommend either.
It may seem like overkill, but honestly it feels more comfortable than the belt because the weight is distributed more evenly and can be secured more tightly from a number of positions if needed.
Uncomfortable and bouncy during runs
Belt with plastic bottles is not comfortable for me.
Those old-fashioned holster belts with hard bottles are out of fashion for a reason.
Difficult to access bottle while running
Vest is all around more comfortable and convenient for me.
I switch hands every mile.
Complaints about bottles falling out or strap loosening
a lot of complaints are you bottles fall out or the strap loosens too often.
Uncomfortable sliding down with weight
Love the Naked band. I will say that sizing is tricky, because, especially if you’re carrying two full flasks, if you don’t nail the sizing it can slide down uncomfortably with the weight.
Belts slip or move during runs
Second this. I have yet to find a belt that does not slip or move while I'm running.
Overall I find vests to be much more comfortable and much more functional compared to belts.

Discussion on hydration alternatives
I just need something comfortable that will hold some water and my phone.
I would rather have something on my waist than on my back!
Discussion about hydration solutions for running with dogs
My dog does not like to drink from the stream from the bottle and I can't pack a collapsible dish in the tiny pouch it has.
Ruff Wear "singletrack" is a dog hydration backpack! Looks big enough to hold a collapsible bowl too.
Love it for longer runs and hikes. Bonus points: my pup now carries her own poop and I don't have to smell it!
I carry a ruffwear collapsible bowl with me on my runs. It folds up fairly small and goes in a pocket of my running pack.
Discussion about different hydration solutions
While I can't say that I've used a vest, I've gone on a couple of hour-long runs holding onto a water bottle and it got very annoying.
I use an older version of the UD Jurek Endure belt which carries 2 bottles and my Iphone SE.
Yeah, I run with a hydrobelt and the UD stuff is very well conceived.
The waist belt is really nice and feels locked in most of the time.

Discussion about various running belts
best running belts? any suggestions for running belts that can hold water bottles, gels/protein bars, keys/phones/earphones etc?
Flipbelt. Mine can't hold a water bottle, but it holds a good amount of stuff for long runs
It's been 4 years since I've been in ultra shape, but I've done 3 50ks with just the Naked belt.
I have a naked belt and it works fine in the back. Perhaps you need a slimmer bottle? The hydra flask or Salomon flasks run slimmer than Nathan or UD.
Discussion about alternatives to hydration belts
A well fitting vest is basically the best I've experienced personally.
First time I ran with a well fitting proper run vest it was like a dream.
I hated belts and vests. The Multipass can be worn as a sling or as a waist belt.
Preference for vests over belts for longer runs
love vests. Have a great one. But I do find it overkill at anything under like 90 minutes.
Just tried my first run with a vest and bladder though and wow it was so much better and I was able to pack it with ice so the water stayed cold in 90 degree heat.
Discussion about preferences for hydration methods
Choosing My First Running Belt I've been running for awhile, but would like to get into 8-10+ mile runs to work up to a half-marathon.
I much prefer a vest to a belt for hydration.
This was great as it also allows you to put in some fuel for the longer runs in some of the smaller pockets.
It can seem like a lot but I’ve been on the other end of things and run out of water in the heat and that is miserable.
Comparisons between belts and vests
Now I'm only using the vest if I need to carry a lot of food and water.
I'm hearing a lot of people move to the vest, and then stick with it.
Do you find that vests tend to carry more than what you typically need?
Discussion about finding larger size vests
I'm a 6'4" 310 pound runner. Chest is probably 56". I'm training for a half marathon and around mile 6 I start crashing if I don't have enough drink/food on me.
The largest one I know of is REI's Swiftland which comes in a XXL that fits up to 52". If you're close to one, it might be worth checking out to see if it's close enough that long straps or strap extenders might be an option.
I'm with you man, I'm 5'8" 270lbs with a 56 inch chest and the first post mentioning the REI swiftland 2XL vest was spot on, it fits great.
I have a Nathan vest, not sure if it is XL or anything. it has stretchy material then bands to loosen on the sides to fit me.
Discussion about hydration methods for larger runners
If you start crashing that early in a run, also make sure you are fueling well enough before your run.
Discussion about comparing hydration methods
Hydration belt recommendations? Looking for recommendations for or against waist belt options from folks who use them.
Sharing of alternative hydration products
Thanks! i'll take a look.
It's much less bulky than the 'collapsible' silicone bowls.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about preferences for hydration methods (belts vs vests)
Ditch the belt, go with a vest.
Running vest. Solomon hydration active skin 8 is good.
I just picked up Naked Running belt. Might be overkill, but it's well reviewed on YouTube, etc.
I find belts to be far too bouncy.
Discussion about hydration methods
There's no bounce at all.
Discussion about various hydration solutions
Thanks in advance for your input! I am going to buy a belt from a running store and try it out on my next run.
Subjectivity in choosing hydration methods
It is completely subjective, everyone like something different.
Personal preferences vary widely for hydration methods
There's nothing bad about them, but from what I've seen it's a very personal thing.
I believe that it has been shown that a back back is the most efficient method of carrying water for running.
