Snoop's Take

The Draw-Tite 65080 Front Mount Receiver Hitch is designed to enhance the towing capabilities of 2007-2023 Toyota Sequoia and 2007-2021 Toyota Tundra models. This solid, all-welded steel hitch is rigorously tested for safety and performance, boasting a black powder coat finish that resists rust and corrosion. Consumer feedback highlights the ease of installation, with many users noting, "It took about an hour to put on," and praising its solid construction and design. Users appreciate the hitch's curved shape that hugs the vehicle body, its strong performance under stress, and its flexibility for winch mounting, with quotes like, "Everything held up fine." However, some concerns regarding installation complexity and compatibility with vehicle trim were noted. Overall, the Draw-Tite 65080 Front Mount Receiver Hitch is well-received in its category and is recommended for those seeking a robust and reliable towing solution, especially for DIY enthusiasts who value ease of installation and performance.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Easy installation process
It took about an hour to put on.
Super easy to do.
It's all plug and play.
Solid construction and strength
This is definitely a better hitch and I like the mounting behind the license plate.
Killer job man. Barely noticeable.
That looks awesome! Wonderful ingenuity and craftsmanship.
Curved design hugs the body better
the draw-tite is more curved and should hug the body better, so i'd go with that.
Strong performance under stress
Everything held up fine.
Custom front hitch and steering brace combo.
this will be much lighter for the 99% of the time I'm on pavement.
Preferred for potential towing needs
I prefer draw-tite. Towing anything with a hybrid RAV4 will very possibly void your warranty’s on those components.
Does not require widening or trimming
Does anyone have experience with this specific trailer hitch and can attest to it not needing any extra modifications to install?
It doesn't need any widening/trimming.
Cost-effective compared to dealer installation
I go the parts off Z1 Offroad. Installed 8 bolts and the wiring all for around 300 and 2 hours on a Saturday.
Love for Draw-Tite hitch's performance
I have the 2" Draw-tite and love it.
They have install videos as well, which makes it pretty idiot proof.
Easy DIY installation with guidance
I also did this successfully.
Flexibility for winch mounting
I like the idea of that flexibility.
Bottom line, it seems like a very useful part!
Higher tongue weight capacity than competitors
the tongue weight was like 350 lbs compared to the 500 lbs tongue weight on the Draw-Tite.
Decided on hitch over roof or trunk rack
i finally decided to go for a hitch and i have zero regrets
Great look of the hitch
Looks great. I was debating between a roof rack and a hitch - Will probably go for the hitch after seeing this.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Installation requires modifications to the vehicle
Wtf! I didn’t know you could just combine the two into one beautiful beast!!!
Concerns about rust and road salt exposure
My concerns are around rust and living in an area with snow/road salt/etc.
Same concerns here, being in the rust belt.
Preference for hidden hitch designs over exposed
Others like the Draw Tite that have the main bar exposed all the way across, instead of hidden behind the bumper with just the receiver further down look bad to me.
Installation is a total pain
Total pain to install.
Compatibility concerns with vehicle trim
I’m not sure how a front hitch would even work with how the front bumper trim is on the 5th Gen.
OEM installation is more complicated
The install was way more complicated.
Preference for OEM over Draw-Tite
Just removed the Draw-Tite and installed the OEM - very happy with the difference!
Thanks for sharing. 4 inches of clearance is a big deal. What was the cost difference? Any other ben
I wish I would have gone oem.
Preference against modifying vehicle for installation
I would have preferred the hitch, but I wasn’t cutting into the rear air dam to do it.

Overall OEM is probably best if you are willing to spend the money.

Cautionary Callouts

Discussion on front plate requirements and ticketing
I don’t see any where to mount a plate, and I’d rather not use the front tow hitch.
Tell them the front grill keeps eating them.
I resisted putting a front plate on my 2019 4 convertible, but kept getting tickets when I parked in Manhattan.
I had no idea they can ticket a parked vehicle for no front plate.
Discussion about towing with incompatible vehicles
Total cost to be completely set up to pull a trailer including wiring was around $250usd.
I know the manual says not to tow with a wrx, but how heavy a load would you risk towing with it?
Personally, I never would even with 200lbs.
I'm curious exactly why pulling a reasonable load on a trailer is a no-no.
