The CURT 31374 2-Inch Front Receiver Hitch is designed specifically for select models of the Dodge Ram 1500, providing a reliable and versatile solution for front towing and cargo transport. With a standard 2-inch receiver, users can easily attach various accessories such as snow plows, bike racks, and winches, making it an essential addition for those needing flexibility in their vehicle's capabilities. Consumer feedback highlights the hitch's easy installation and its multifunctional design. Many users have noted that it is "super easy to install" and appreciate its utility for tasks like parking trailers or transporting bikes, stating, "this is the answer, it's for front recovery." What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Handy for parking trailers
very handy for parking my trailers.
The Odyssey is so much easier to park in cities than a pickup.
Looking for a front winch bumper that also has a 2" receiver for my agrifab plow and moving boats around in tight spaces.
Versatile for multiple uses
This is the answer, it's for front recovery.
You can also connect thinks like a bike rack, or even a dirt bike.
It doesn't interfere with turning the trailer, you can see the bikes in the mirror and it's rock solid once installed.
Now I'll be able to bring the bikes when I go camping.
Handy for moving trailers
I can confirm the weight and horrible approach angle was a poor tradeoff.
Easy to install
This gives me a good bit of confidence going into installing my own hitch later this month.
I’m an absolute idiot but I was able to install this exact hitch on my ‘23 with no problem.
Super easy install
Good value compared to dealer prices
Overall 10/10 would do it again to save $750.
Easy installation process
Works great having the bikes up front.
Has anyone used the motorcycle hitch carrier? Good-Bad? I just moved and need to transport my motorc
Easy installation
Installation was pretty easy solo but another set of hands would have helped.
It came in a few different bolt together pieces and took about an hour to install myself.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Weight tradeoff is unfavorable
weight in the back will reduce tongue weight, and too little weight can cause sway.
Intercooler issues complicate installation
I drag that front hitch constantly and it kills my approach angle.
Visibility issues when using bike racks
However it raises the height of everything and when hauling bikes they protrude well over the hood and you lose some visibility.
Concern about ground clearance
it looks like it hangs low enough that it'd hit parking blocks.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on recovery tow hitch purpose
What's this for?
This way you can see the shame on the jeep owners face.
Discussion about specific features of the Tow Mode in XRT trim
If you install a tow hitch, whether OEM or third party, you should still benefit from the XRT Tow Mode.
Discussion about tow capacity and compatibility for vehicles
What small camper do you have that can be towed by the Crosstrek? Everything I am looking at is too heavy.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on alternative modifications for winch mounts
Not sure. Maybe modify a winch mount?
Curt makes a front hitch receiver.
Suggestions for improving truck lift
Sounds like an excuse for more lift!
Question about using a Weight Distribution Hitch
I'll have to find out if a Weight Distribution Hitch can be used on it.
Suggestions for exploring local truck accessory shops
I'm not a hitch guy but some are extremely hard to do.
I’d try the local truck accessory outfitters like H&H.
Discussion on alternative mounting options for RV hitch
Can you mount (or have) a rear hitch for the RV?

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on safer trailer setups
Safer with a trailer setup?
spending the time to unfold and put it together every time made it too big a barrier to make me want to actually use it.
Expensive, but nice.
Discussion on winch mount compatibility
I hate the look of the front hitch and don’t want to spend the $$$ on a new bumper.
Road Armor makes a rear winch bumper and honestly that is more useful for 90% of truck owners.
Inquiry about towing receiver availability for new Santa Fe
all this is useless without a hitch installed to the vehicle. :)
Personal experience of installing a factory hitch on '24 XRT
The hitch seems very well built and heavy. The install wasn’t very difficult.
Update on husband's successful hitch installation
My husband just got his installed!!!
Discussion on optimal tongue weight management
I'd get a hitch scale and use the bicycle rack to fine tune your tongue weight so it's a good match for the trailer's weight.
Discussion on costs of professional hitch installation
Did uhaul recently increase hitch installation prices? Because I dont remember uhaul charging over 530 bucks to install.
You want the installation of a metal bar that is capable of towing possibly a car or heavier to be cheap?
Do you want to pay thousands just for 4 bolts?
Discussion on compatibility with 2022 Lightning and standard ICE F-150s
I’m assuming they’re good if it’s the same f150 platform but I’m not seeing anything that actually confirms that.
your best bet might be to call ford customer service or check with your dealer.
Absolutely useless lol.
Inquiry about compatibility with the 2022 Lightning
I’m assuming they’re good if it’s the same f150 platform but I’m not seeing anything that actually confirms that.
it doesn't have any mention of the air dam, so it might fit.
Discussion on different hitch brands
Looks like the Reese and Curt are two totally different mounting options for the superduty series.
Discussion on brand comparison for hitches
I was curious if anybody here has had any particular good or bad experiences with either brand.
But if the online pictures are anything to go by, it looks like the curt is a straight bar, and the draw-tite is more curved and should hug the body better.
Everything held up fine.
Have you considered getting the OEM Toyota hitch?
Recommendation to check eTrailer for hitch options
Check out etrailer.com they had a front hitch for my 2016 F150...

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about installation difficulty and costs
But nope it was nothing.
Not all bolts are created equal in strength.
Concerns about installation safety and proper electrical setup
It’s also a matter of making sure the electrical is installed correctly to not blow fuses on your vehicle.
Concerns about front suspension capacity for additional weight
I think only a thing for super duty models as the F-150 has a much weaker front suspension that might not be able to handle additional weight without mods to the front suspension.
