Snoop's Take

Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Anti-Colic Options+ Narrow Baby Bottle is a specially engineered feeding solution designed to reduce colic through its innovative vent system and mimic the breastfeeding experience with its slow flow, breast-shaped nipples. It helps decrease spit-up, gas, and discomfort while preserving vital nutrients; as one delighted parent put it, "I think i’m weird because i LOVE them," even though some users bemoan the bottle’s maze-like assembly and occasional leaking issues. Overall, while the bottle earns praise for its anti-colic performance and nutrient preservation, it is best recommended for parents who don’t mind the extra cleaning and assembly efforts in exchange for reduced colic symptoms.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Reduces colic, gas, and spit‐up
They are vents to prevent gas/air bubbles from getting into the nipple to keep your baby from ingesting a bunch of air.
I opened the box and said "wtf is this" and opened the instruction pamphlet and found they were optional so I put them aside.
We use the Dr brown's bottles and baby boy went from horrible gas and vomiting to drinking a lot better.
We switched from the Phillips to the dr browns anti colic bottles and our lo has decreased the amount of air swallowed.
Leak‐free performance when used correctly
Mine have never leaked either, this is actually the first I'm hearing of it.
Never had trouble with leaks and it was the only bottle that kept my boys colic free.
Agreed, used the same sets for both our boys during the last 4 years without issue.
The only time they leaked for us was when we over tightened them.

Difficult to clean due to many small parts
Seriously, does anyone actually know or is this like Daylight savings where we all just do it and don’t really know why??
Love them. Hate cleaning all the parts.
So sick of cleaning them, though.
These stupid Dr. Brown bottles are the least convenient items on the entire planet. They take FOREVER to clean because they are made up of 67 parts that are small are hard to clean.
Leaking issues during use
Worst part though was that they leaked all over the place, milk leaked out of the sides of baby's mouth, and we just kept losing milk.
Whenever I didn’t align the holes right our bottles would leak like crazy, and the nipple would collapse.
I definitely boiled them, but I didn’t know the vent existed so I didn’t massage it at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ oops. Lol.
Dr Browns leaked for us, Comotomo didn’t last, Boon was too many pieces.
Slow nipple flow and poor nipple performance
Only thing is their nipples are really hard to suck from for many babies (mine included) and we needed to go up on it.
Leaking issues due to assembly and design
The problem is that nine times out of ten these freaking bottles start leaking a few seconds into a feeding session!
Who wants to fumble with a bottle and it's stupid parts in the dark while a baby is crying?
His pjs and our hands get all wet and it’s just sad seeing all that milk go to waste.
They are a pain in the ass, yes, but it just takes some experience and patience putting them together to get them to work properly.
4oz bottle variant leaks more than 8oz
My 4oz plastic ones leaked all the time.
The small ones (4oz) always leaked really bad for me.
Mostly at 4oz for us they were horribly leaky, when we moved to the 8oz we haven’t had any issues unless it was an install error by us.
Leak issues over time
WTF is up with Dr. Brown’s bottles?
I always wonder why some people have this issue and others don’t.
Careful! Those words unleash the curse!
I threw them out when an entire bottle of breast milk leaked all over me and baby at 4 in the morning.
Difficult to clean individual bottle parts
I switched to glass too and we replace the nipples monthly but now I’m worried about the seal ring and the cap bc we sanitize both.
Ineffective at reducing gas
Baby gas sucks!
Btw - “anti-colic” is a misnomer, it’s basically anti-air.
I think I just have a gassy baby 🙁
It almost seems like there’s just too little gas that gets in, but only just a little, so it makes it wayyyy harder to burp the baby to actually make them happy.

Cloth wipes usage discussion
What happened with the wipes? Stopped using because they caused irritation and stinging for my LO
These were our favorites in the “Tensile Strength to Wetness ratio” category.
I was so mad when they went up in price and the rest stayed relatively the same.
We bought enough to where we have two tissue boxes full on rotation while another box is in the laundry.

Comparisons with other brands’ bottle systems
As baby sucks at one end, the vacuum pulls air in at the other, meaning way less bubbles.
Philips has a vent in their nipples you need to line up perfectly with the notch in the screw cap, otherwise it won’t work.
Hate. Get the Phillips avent bottles!
I hate them. I’m a total Comotomo stan.
Usage tips for preventing leaks
Maybe that will solve your leaks. If that’s not it, then that’s just super frustrating.
When my little dude is hungry, taking the bottle away for even a second results in pterodactyl mating calls.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about heating plastic may be unsafe
Dr. Browns Baby Bottles toxic?
Honestly, you should never heat anything plastic, even things that claim to be microwave safe.
Any plastic is iffy so if it’s important you you stick with glass bottles
I mean that’s an issue with heating every plastic item.
Concerns about plastic safety and degradation
I have no idea if they should still be used when I give birth to #2 in the spring of 2025? Have they degraded too much?
No. The plastics degrade over time, especially when heated (i.e., when sterilized or put in the dishwasher)
I saved my Philips avent bottles from my first ( 2021) ... But just tossed them in prep for number 2 bc (as another said) plastic degrades and now that I'm out of the infant haze I realize it's just safer/smarter to start fresh.
Any bottle made out of any plastic is just as prone to shipping microplastics.
Plastics and chemical safety concerns
So what the hell are we supposed to do? PPA is enough of a bitch as it is, so sure, let’s stack another doomsday worry onto the list.
There’s essentially microplastics in everything. (Not scare mongering, unfortunately it’s becoming reality).
The thing that gets me about all this fuss in the news is that PFAS are so prevalent now, they are literally already in unborn babies.
Coatings are bad too. Treated fabrics, paper plates treated with degreaser so it doesn’t disintegrate.
