Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
PC case dust and airflow filter management discussion
The filter is doing its job. 9 days is a bit fast for that much dust though.
So the dust is accumulating at the planned starting point of the case's airflow.
Yeah, it's as it should be.
tho, If you have more exhaust then intake the pressure in the case lowers, so more dust gets sucked
Clear filters preferred over UV for digital cameras
Skip the UV. Digital doesn't need the correction.
Does it affect the photo more than one clear and it is better to find one without UV protection or it doens't matter?
I prefer these just for protection.
Discussion of variable ND filters and magnetic step‐up rings
Buying one ND for the biggest lens and using magnetic step up rings would be my recommendation to save money.
Wouldn't the magnets allow for the filter to rotate as a whole and therefore not working?
Are there universal magnetic step up rings?
Looks like the magnets are built into the filter, probably for packaging reasons.
HVAC filter material performance trade-offs
You can use pleated if you like, I just recommend fiberglass because it's best for airflow and doesn't affect the static pressure of the system.
As a comparison, try to drink a smoothie with a regular straw (pleated filter), you're going to have to go hard to do it.
As long as you’re changing the fiber glass filters monthly, that’s really all you need.
You can use pleated if you like, I just recommend fiberglass because it's best for airflow and doesn't affect the static pressure of the system.
Discussion on non‑plastic water filter materials
I at least want to try having a water filter that is not made of plastic to avoid the risk of microplastics leeching into the water.
I've seen a few Berkey competitors out there that are not made out of plastic, but the names escape me at the moment.
I can't imagine making a filter out of anything but plastic... Anything that's organic material would decompose.
Recent articles strongly suggest that RO systems leach nanoplastics into the water.

Lens filter and variable ND filter recommendations and discussion
which lenses would you recommend if I'm just a scenery/city/landscape casual record kinda guy?
I believe this camera is good without any filters to be honest.
wow, this is very comprehensive - since you’ve researched em all, do you think the k&f UV is good?
for the price, you're getting a filter that beats out the more expensive ones.
Durable filters offer good optical quality at a reasonable price
the durability/optical quality combo for the price was hard to beat.

Technical guidance and usage tips for ND filters
What’s everyone’s thoughts on ND filters? Do you personally use one? Been wondering about them for a
ND filters reduce the light coming into the lens, so you can use a slower shutter speed than you would normally have to use, especially on a bright day.
Great information! Thank you! Is K&F a worthwhile purchase?
> Video. The normal rule of thumb is that your shutter speed should be double your framerate, so if

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns over image degradation from cheap UV filters
The only time a clear filter goes on the end of my expensive glass is when the wind is blowing in the desert or on the beach.
I have had to detatch the UV filter some times when it caused ghosting and haze and in general a loss of quality.
Filters may or may not protect your lens but they definitely will degrade image quality.
Anything cheap is going to degrade your image quality.
