Snoop's Take

SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II Memory Card is a high-performance storage solution engineered for professional photographers and videographers. It delivers blistering write speeds and robust durability for demanding shooting sessions. Community feedback underscores the card’s reliable performance, with users frequently citing its consistency; one even remarked, 'I’ve never had one fail electronically.' While many praise its high-speed capabilities and rugged design, some critics lambaste its premium pricing and warn of counterfeit concerns on Amazon, muddying the waters of its overall reputation. In short, the conversations reveal a product that excels in speed and reliability, albeit with some price and sourcing caveats. In our expert opinion, the SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO is recommended for professionals who value top-tier performance, provided they purchase from trusted sources to avoid counterfeit pitfalls.

all of our own brand cards were made by SanDisk.
I've used SanDisk Extreme Pro SD cards and so far haven't had problems.
Reliable performance
I have only used SanDisk and haven't had any problems with them.
In 20+ years professional work I never had a problem with SanDisk.
Switched to SanDisk Extreme Pro in 2019 and none of them have failed on me yet.
they’ve been working hiccup free for I think 3 years?
Reliable performance as experienced by users
i use the regular san disk and never had a problem with it
If you want to keep on to your photos I recommend buying quality stuff.
Reliable performance and brand trust
Never had a SanDisk fail me yet so I always stick with this brand.
I have both sandisk and Samsung, they both work fine and i only had an old 200 gb card die.
High speed performance with improved NAND

Overpriced design for infrequent use

Risk of counterfeit products on Amazon
I must say it looked legit. The packaging was exactly as you would expect from a SanDisk product.
I always run it through a program to make sure it actually has the reported capacity.
Amazon mixes inventory of the same sku to optimize shipping by either location or to ship the least packages possible.
Amazon is a complete lottery on this type of stuff.
Reliability concerns and durability issues
These cards are not cheap, and though I usually buy them during Black Friday at discounted rates it’s still frustrating to have to replace.
Any brand can fail.
Risk of counterfeit SanDisk cards on Amazon
A quick test revealed that though the cards were listed as being a little faster then the previous ones we used of this brand/type, they failed to capture& clear buffer as fast as the old ones.
Amazon is notorious for fakes, don't buy SD cards from Amazon especially third party seller.
The issue is that the fake cards will have the same SKUs as the real ones and Amazon will store items with the same SKUs on the same shelf in the warehouse.
It's not that they make bad sd cards, it's that in Amazon warehouses they put both fake and real sd cards together on one big shelf so you're never really certain which one you'll get.
Overheating and fire risk
I smelled the magic smoke. Touched it barely with my finger and it was massively hot.
Holy hell. I came here thinking it was an obvious fake, but it not only looks legit but caught on fire.
Card gets stuck in SD card slot
Every single one of these cards "sticks" in the SD card slot.
i shit myself and had to use tweezers to remove.
Risk of counterfeit SanDisk cards
I would make absolutely certain that both the packaging you recieved, and the labels on the cards themselves match EXACTLY what you see on the Sandisk site.
Out of all major brands, I'd think SanDisk is the one with most counterfeited cards being sold.
Overpriced for Steam Deck use
one is overpriced and not worth mate.
Excess speed claims not practical without proprietary reader
the speeds higher than 104mb/s are only possible with a proprietary SanDisk card reader, because that's the limit of the official specification.
Fragile lock mechanism causing failure
actually the lock that nobody needs broke off my sandisk SD, rendering the card useless.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Understanding SD card speed and class differences
You can see most brands just put the speeds right on the cards (though that’s also advertisement and doesn’t always indicate the speed you’ll get under every circumstance and is often a read speed.)
Sometimes if a card isn’t fast enough it can’t keep up with what you’re recording.
Wouldn't Sony do this to confirm compatibility for *older* hardware?
So why all the different ratings? Why hasn’t V-rating, since it is the latest, just replaced all the others?
Differences between SanDisk product lines
Basically, Ultra is the slowest.
If they can't then they will pay its worth at the time that your sd card was shipped to them.
the price is quite expensive compared to the regular Sandisk SD cards but, the features are similar.
Confusing product specifications and model variations
Apparently the Extreme version has a maximum 40MB/s write speed while the Extreme Pro is 60MB/s.
Write speed varies. Indeed based on this label you are unable to tell.
That is an older discontinued extreme Pro model.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Historical flash memory pricing and capacity discussion
$50? That's a bargin, I only ever see them go for $90 on sale.
Is there a smartphone that supports this card?
The strong consumer electronics market continues to demand higher capacity storage cards.
$100 everywhere in the us I've seen.
Reader speed limitations affect advertised performance
So few readers/devices actually support the faster speeds on those Sandisk Extreme PRO/Samsung PRO Plus that you can almost never count on actually achieving the advertised speeds.
Only a handful of card readers support the off-spec, greater than 100mbyte speeds listed in many cards.
It's advertised for up to 200MB/s with proprietary (SanDisk) software, but have never tried it myself.
The keywords are **up to xxx**. You’re never going to get that advertised speed.
