Snoop's Take

The Meta Quest Pro Headset with Virtual Reality Field Trips 1-Month Subscription is a high-tech VR device that not only delivers immersive digital experiences but also unlocks a month of curated educational field trips through Optima Academy Online. It blends cutting-edge mixed reality capabilities such as advanced pancake lenses and real-time avatar expressions with robust hardware specifications, though community debates swirl around its premium price; as one user put it, “Thanks for mentioning the zero godrays thing, that's something that I was really hoping for.” The feedback is a mixed bag: while many applaud the vivid visual clarity and innovative passthrough features, others bemoan the steep cost and see the feature set as lacking compared to pricier competitors. In the end, if you’re chasing groundbreaking VR experiences and can stomach a premium investment, the headset holds its ground, but the divide in user sentiment suggests a cautious buy for budget-conscious buyers.

I do like the colors of the Qpro better. I miss the black levels (Although not 'great' definitely better than Q3) and the colors of the QPro.

Positive Feedback

They tried to beat apple to the $1500 market, but what they didn't realise is that people who buy tech products at that price are basically only buying Apple products.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Excellent contrast and rich color reproduction
I do like the colors of the Qpro better. I miss the black levels (Although not 'great' definitely better than Q3) and the colors of the QPro.
Premium build quality and comfort
I walked away really impressed. I have one on pre-order.
Improved lens performance with reduced godrays
Thanks for mentioning the zero godrays thing, that's something that I was really hoping for.
Strong operating system and overall display fidelity
Amazed at the operating system and the fidelity. Very stoked with it overall and would highly recommend to others.
Effective passthrough functionality
Enabling double tap on left side of head for pass-through was a game changer for me.
It does look like science fiction.. and when coming from quest 2, the fact that you do see the room while looking at tiles is amazing!
Game-changing pancake lenses
I have never seen such clarity in VR, it is amazing.
I love the open design, lenses, QLED displays and controllers.
Elimination of center halo and screen door effect
For me, it is the first headset I've used that eliminates the center halo and screen door, which is pretty huge in and of itself.
Innovative open design
I loved the design of this headset, with it's open lens housing and crown headstrap.
Effective full face tracking
I'm glad I got it because it remains one of the few currently easily accessible headsets with full face tracking, which I adore having in VRChat.

Overpriced with insufficient unique features
They tried to beat apple to the $1500 market, but what they didn't realise is that people who buy tech products at that price are basically only buying Apple products.
I think enthusiasts would gladly buy a $1500 Meta device if it had $1500 worth of features.
Although I do find it funny talking to people who own the Pro and listening to them try to justify purchasing it at full retail price when all they do is game lol.
I've told them all honestly that it wasn't... but that despite this *I just couldn't return it and go back to my Q2* because the lenses are just too good.
Poor performance and missing professional-grade features
If the Quest Pro had a depth sensor and higher resolution MR cameras and higher resolution screens then imo it would have sold much better.
The quest pro was no good for professionals honestly.
Lower native resolution and poor brightness
But poor brightness is at the fault of using OLED.
The resolution difference is *very* noticeable to me when you super sample and turn bitrate to max, and worth the tradeoff.
Lack of active mini-LED local dimming
Sounds like applications would need to make use of it manually — he said it should be great for things like looking outside from a dark room but nobody’s actually done that yet.
Subpar resolution and graininess in color passthrough
I certainly wish it was higher resolution but, the 3D depth accuracy still makes it pretty awesome overall.
I dont understand bc mine is hyper grainy.
Confusing setup and unboxing experience
That's when I knew it might be a bumpy ride.
No native PC connection
No native connection to pc. Going to return it.
Performance instability/freezing during sim racing
I’m having issues with it freezing due to cpu overload.
Removed depth sensor compromises core functionality
It's otherwise a great piece of kit, just incapable of doing the one thing it's designed to do well.
Underperforming mixed reality
Mixed Reality is garbage, because good VR alone should take all the processing power and focus.
Lack of effective local dimming
But as it stands quest 3 is universally better in most cases outside of niche pc eye tracking.
Limited firmware support
It works fine, and I can still use it, but it isn't supported anymore.
Overpriced for its features
Too expensive, and it didn't offer enough to justify the price tag.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General VR platform chatter and accessory recommendations
VRBloomly takes adult VR to a new level with stunning detail and smooth performance.
Bro CummyVR is better
Yeah, some VR just feels like watching a regular video.
Bro obviously never heard of vrsmash.com or rookies Sideloader/armageddon browser.
Technical discussions on supersampling and resolution scaling
So slider all the way to the right at 90 fps reads as 1.5x but actually = 1x headset native resolution.
it’s somewhat ridiculous that the only documented information on this is a tweet from a former oculus link developer.
Thanks for this! Been using it on SeducedVR for quite a while now, will def test this.
Uncertainty about future lens technology in Quest 3
I think it's unlikely they will drastically change the pancake lenses.
Rapid product iteration and obsolescence
They keep coming out with two iterations and then there's one that works and one that ends up becoming obsolete.
This would fit with how the Quest Pro was so poorly coordinated with the Q3 which basically made it look underpowered and overpriced.
Keep in mind the pro also came out during Covid so it may have been delayed much later than originally planned.
Discussion on immersion, binocular overlap, and VR headset comparisons
nothing worth damaging your eyes.
Good for me I guess.
it also had a tiny resolution and low FOV... But man, I miss the Vive's true OLED blacks and insane 3D.
I put it on and my reaction for the first few hours was "Eeeeh, it's OK, I guess..."

Market and pricing strategy debates for high-end VR
Yeah I'd be very surprised if this sold fewer units than the Apple Vision Pro tbh.
It didn't make sense, it turns out.
Limited mainstream appeal
this headset was never targeted at mainstream consumers. Unfortunately, I just don't see businesses using VR over regular computers.
Humorous VR marketing commentary
*virtual audience
Plot twist. Zuck is actually Myspace Tom’s robot that he sent into the future to create… VR MYSPACE!!!

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Broad comparisons among high-end VR headsets
The Vision Pro takes absolutely nothing from the Quest 3. If anything, it highlights how amazing they've done with lower-cost hardware.
I can see a more consumer friendly budget version releasing for the holidays with no outward screen, and just a couple of googly eyes to stick on it.
If meta releases Quest Pro 2 for $2,000 that comes close to vision pro’s resolution/lens clarity there is absolutely no reason to get the Vision Pro.
Have terminal access, professional software with no apple software(aka microsft 365) or finance or databases edit videos, photos , music production at professional level.
Mixed reality tracking and controller concerns in Quest 3
I am more interested in the PCVR performance and features than Meta based games.
That's the thing I'm most concerned about, there's no upward facing cameras anymore.
I guess your arms get tracked too to a certain degree.
The tracking volume has actually increased, 89,69% vs 91,79%.
Controversy over targeted use cases and marketing positioning
A case of maintaining a certain "image", or whatever.
Meta is out of touch.
Imagine using VR to learn how to change electrical wiring or practice solving natural gas flow emergencies.
Specialized VR training software is a VERY different use case than general office productivity.
Speculation on future Meta VR product lineup
If it's as good as it sounds like it's gonna be I will undoubtedly replace my quest pro with it.
Basically don't branch off the pro so drastically from the regular Quest.
