First off, there really aren't any stupid questions when it comes to safety.
Sure hope that wheel chock holds up 🤔
Is it safe to make my own wooden wheel chocks? I assume it would be fine but I thought I’d ask.
Heavy-duty construction provides stability
With a Single axel, I usually use only 2 on one side, because the other side is usually on some kind of leveler to get my side to side level.
It's fucking genius! Have you ever tried to put something you have to tow while I'm reverse?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
User suggests using alternative materials for chocking wheels
Got some big rocks or pieces of wood?
Literally anything that it won’t roll over.
Yes. Just cut 2 (or however many you want), 12 inch long pieces of pressure treated 4x4 post and your set.
You can use anything that will wedge securely as a chock.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Chocking wheels may seem unnecessary with a tractor attached
I understand if there's no tractor in front of the trailer, but if there's a tractor there's not really a need for it right?
It’s done to prevent moving or rolling.
I had one shipper that requires chocks in front *and back* of the wheels.
Cheap harbor freight chock on plywood.
Discussion on the number of chocks needed for safety
I've always done 4 (for single axle up through triple axle). Front and back on either side.
Two should be fine, but 4 isn't going to hurt. The heavy rubber chocks (don't waste your time with the injection-molded plastic ones) cost under $10 each at Harbor Freight.
I made one out of scrap wood. I'll try and snap a pic tomorrow if you're interested. I think it really helped.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Frustration with additional security measures like locks and waiting times
My favourite is chocking wheels, disconnecting the air lines, putting on an airline lock and then having to give them your keys...and either sit in their waiting room for hours or in your not running truck in freezing weather.
I second this, used in today with my Camry it was nice
