Snoop's Take

The Ergodyne TREX 6300 Slip-On Traction Cleats are designed to provide superior grip on icy surfaces, making them an essential accessory for winter conditions. Many users praise their effectiveness, stating that they provide peace of mind by preventing slips and falls; one user noted, "Got these and never fell again. I swear by these!!" Additionally, the cleats are convenient for everyday use, allowing wearers to walk around without needing to remove them, as highlighted by a customer mentioning their ease of use even while grocery shopping. Despite their many strengths, some feedback indicates limitations, particularly in deep snow where they may not perform as effectively as snowshoes. Additionally, a few users reported fit issues or potential damage to their snow boots, suggesting that users should ensure compatibility with their footwear. Overall, the Ergodyne TREX 6300 is highly recommended for anyone seeking reliable traction on icy surfaces, given the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding their performance and convenience.

Traction is your friend when it's slippery.

Positive Feedback

Snowshoes are shit on traverses and you can end up falling, whereas microspikes will give you traction, but you'll sink in.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Provides excellent grip on icy surfaces
Traction is your friend when it's slippery.
Once it becomes more work to lift our feet up and out of the now than it is to walk in a snowshoe, we just switch over.
Studded tires only have a small range of conditions where they actually perform better than modern all seasons like CrossClimate2's or Blizzaks.
Honestly if you are planning to use in snow, maybe the Yaktrax, but for ice purposes, it's Kahtoolas by a mile..
More convenient than snowshoes for packed trails
No annoying clacking. Gait closer to normal.
Insulated sole retains heat well
Such a quality of life improvement for me both from on the bike to reduced faffing with covers.
Overall satisfaction and effectiveness
I have some of these too and love them.
Convenient for walking around without removal
My Yaktrax have been great. I’ve walked to the grocery store in them and can walk around in the store without taking them off.
Highly effective at preventing slips on icy surfaces
Avoid falling and hurting yourself by buying some traction cleats for your shoes for the Winter so you don’t fall if there are icy conditions.
Got these and never fell again. I swear by these!!
Provides peace of mind in icy conditions
Luckily no bone fractures based on x-ray but my ankle is swollen and severely bruised and will take 4-6 weeks to heal.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not suitable for deep snow
Snowshoes are shit on traverses and you can end up falling, whereas microspikes will give you traction, but you'll sink in.
Honestly you are comparing top of the line all weathers to kinda mid level studded winters with a not so aggressive tread.
Can damage the soles of snow boots
My Yaktrax have actually destroyed the soles of my snowboots.
Fit issues may arise with certain shoe sizes
No complaints on my Yaktrax except either mine are a hair too small for my shoes or I’m just a weakling when it comes to stretching them on properly.

User preference for Adizero cleats and their performance
I only wear adizero cleats. Have been since the only option was soccer style.

Comparison of traction cleats with snowshoes
When would one use a traction cleat over a snowshoe? I have snowshoes, but just wondering what types of outdoor ventures would require a traction cleat rather than a snowshoe
If your foot sinks into the snow then snowshoes, otherwise crampons.
Yup, simple as that. Crampons when you need the grip but don't need the flotation that snowshoes provide.
snowshoes also suck at traverses, so you point your feet straight down and hope your range of motion is enough to cover slope inclination.
Discussion on shipping costs for other brands
Northwave have a good selection (but international shipping might be expensive)
Seeking reviews for Adidas cleats in a non-related subreddit
I can’t try them on, because im not in the US.
Discussion on wearing football cleats for soccer
Can I wear them for soccer even though they are football cleats?
Discussion on performance comparisons with other brands
What do people recommend for models? I've heard the Kahtoola Nanospikes are good for ice but not packed snow.
Discussion about alternative brands of spikes
Most of the serious winter hikers and Search and Rescue folks I know around here also recommend Katahoola spikes over YakTrax as well.
