Snoop's Take

The Energizer MAX AA Batteries (12 Pack) are designed to provide long-lasting power for your household devices. With a promise of locking in power for up to 10 years, these alkaline batteries are marketed as a reliable back-up energy source for a variety of gadgets. However, user feedback reveals concerns regarding their performance in specific conditions. Many consumers have noted that "this batch only lasted two weeks in my Schlage locks," highlighting issues with battery longevity and voltage maintenance. Additionally, users reported that the batteries do not perform well in cold temperatures and fail to last as long as expected compared to other brands. Given the mixed reviews, particularly regarding their reliability and longevity, it may be worth exploring alternative battery options if prolonged power is a priority for your devices. While some users still find value in them, overall sentiment indicates that the Energizer MAX AA Batteries may not be the best choice in their category.

Energizers don't seem to work in cold Temps, also they seem to just not work at low charge, as opposed to Duracell's which seem to fizzle out more aka just produce a dimmer beam the lower the charge.

Insightful Chatter

I can't remember the last time I bought non-rechargeables.

Does not perform well in cold temperatures
I can't remember the last time I bought non-rechargeables.
Fails at low charge
Wouldn't charge, and got extremely hot.
The Black Pros have a higher capacity but a much shorter service life.
The Energizer NiMH cells aren't bad, but you could definitely use a better charger.
Batteries do not last as long as expected
Both of these products came with Energizer Lithiums.
I think **Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA are unsuitable for in-series applications**, or at most two in series in something like a remote control where sudden failure does not lead to a serious problem.
I think you're actually right about this. I've gotten a couple batches lately that they're noticibly shorter lasting.
Others last longer.
Batteries fail to maintain voltage
This batch only lasted two weeks in my Schlage locks (used to last many months).
I am still determining if the batteries in the Nest Protects are lasting as long as they used to.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on patents and market competition for lithium batteries
Why is there no other AA Lithium Cell besides Energizer in B&M Retail? Always been curious, never seen a Duracell, Rayovac, etc. lithium AA battery, was curious why there is no competition in that sector.
Energizer has patents on it. They have gone after companies in the past for importing chinese generics with their products in the past.
That’s very interesting, thank you for the reply.
My guess is that they would be violating patent laws. I believe this is becoming a growing problem for Amazon and the like.

Comparison with Duracell batteries
Energizers don't seem to work in cold Temps, also they seem to just not work at low charge, as opposed to Duracell's which seem to fizzle out more aka just produce a dimmer beam the lower the charge.
I was thinking of buying a pack of 4 Energizer 2000mAh batteries with a charger (around 21 bucks) but then I found the Beston batteries + charger with a relatively cheaper price (for 15 bucks, pic attached).
Consideration of rechargeable options
Haven't bought a AA battery since.
Wouldn't be recharging more than 1,000 times in my lifetime.
Energizer are fine but eneloops are the golden standard for AA NiMH batteries.
Back when they were still Sanyo branded. I have some Panasonic ones and they've also held up just fine.
Discussion on alternatives to Energizer lithium batteries
Prices are crazy. Just went to order a 24 pack of energizer aa lithium batteries and they are $70.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concern about battery authenticity when purchased online
I still need reliable Lithium batteries for my Nest Protect Smoke alarms, so I will test other brands.
Discussion about battery charging issues and chargers
Energizer NIMH back from the dead
Its really impossible to say without some details about your charger.
sometimes in stores rechargeable batteries do not sell for a few years, this could be the case here.
Discussion on battery charging issues and chargers
That is normal, yes. It is difficult to impossible to judge the state of charge with NiMH batteries by voltage.
