Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Patent protection and market exclusivity concerns in Energizer AA Lithium batteries
Why is there no other AA Lithium Cell besides Energizer in B&M Retail?
Energizer has patents on it.
I’m curious, since the “everyday person” uses Amazon much more then AliExpress.
I believe this is becoming a growing problem for Amazon and the like.
Manufacturing differences impact performance
The Japanese cells in my experience all have much better low self discharge, so when powering low power devices like remotes or clocks they don't require recharging as often.
I've seen both fail quickly although the 2300mAh ones are slightly better.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
User experiences and brand comparisons among various AA batteries
Is Energizer the best battery? What do you use?
Energizer are just dandy too, I don't find a massive difference between the two.
Eneloops, the standard white ones. The Black Pros have a higher capacity but a much shorter service
I can't remember the last time I bought non-rechargeables.
Preference for alternative rechargeable AA batteries over Energizer
I'm only asking because I prefer Duracell normal batteries over the Energizer normal batteries.
Lithium battery voltage and compatibility discussion
Lithium primaries are a lot more stable than alkalines and will not spontaneously leak.
I like the Skilhunt E2A a lot.
The newest version of the T4 is compatible with lithium primaries.
AA battery brand comparisons and recommendations
If you want non rechargeable, energizer ultimate lithiums.
varta is good?
For the rare case where you need a premium single use AA, go with LiFeS2 such as Energizer Ultimate Lithium.
Battery performance and cost‐effectiveness comparisons
Now we just need to take a look at average cost per minute (or hour) of battery life to figure out which brand offers the best value.
Total time lasted divided by the cost gives us: Kirkland: 21.67, Sunbeam: 18.
This is eye opening because I always assumed the panasonics we sell are better.
Brand comparisons highlighting Eneloops as a preferred option
I'd give the same BIFL rating for Eneloops for this kind of purpose, too.
Eneloops are the golden standard for AA NiMH batteries.
I then got a set of Eneloops and they've been going strong for around 15+ years now.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Reported battery lifespan and voltage issues in Energizer Lithium AA batteries
I got fed up with the short life of the batteries and the expense, so I started using Costco Alkaline AA batteries in my smart locks.
There's no way that those batteries should only last as long as alkalines, even at low drain.
At the very least, measure the voltage of a new battery with a DMM.
This batch only lasted two weeks in my Schlage locks (used to last many months).
Charger voltage behavior and overcharge issues for Energizer rechargeable AA batteries
But it never actually tells me when it's fully charged.
It is difficult to impossible to judge the state of charge with NiMH batteries by voltage.
1.5V fully charged.
I'm guessing it's a dumb charger, with no charge state detection.
High price and usage concerns for Energizer lithium batteries
Prices are crazy. Just went to order a 24 pack of energizer aa lithium batteries and they are $70.
I've had the blink doorbell for over a year & we've had weeks of -30 C weather, no issues with batteries at all.
I have 8 of them they will last a while, but in high traffic areas like the driveway or garage they need replacement sooner.
Charger issues with Energizer NiMH batteries
*I know, I shouldn't wait for 'the lights go out' before recharging (1x 0.5V, 2x 1.0V), but hey, I'm lazy.*
The thing is, yesterday the "bad" battery was 0.08 volt or something, the others about 1.
Its really impossible to say without some details about your charger.
Sometimes in stores rechargeable batteries do not sell for a few years, this could be the case here.
Concerns over battery testing methodologies
Yeah, the experimental design isn't well laid out.
Flashlights are the dumbest way to run this kind of test.
