Turns out there’s a lot of extra wire down in the seat post.

Install the mount upside down and pointing towards the back of the bicycle.

Is this the best mounting spot? Or should I flip the mount so the unit is out front of the bars? It'
I figure it offers better protection in case of a crash.
Just a bit more tucked away in the event of a crash.
That's how I have mine. Didn't like other configurations and also seemed most secure.
Secure mounting position
Even though its small my concern is it will subconsciously change my stroke.
Isn’t it mounted in the back under your seat?
I've had a lot of issues with cheap mounts not holding the GPS firmly enough when you hit rough ground.
Fits well with Garmin Edge Explore
it does fit pretty well although it's just a bit loose - and it's not going to work with the Hammerhead mount.
I did punch little holes in the case where the buttons are so they're easier to find on the move though.

If i'm cycling 10 hours a week I need to charge my watch much more.

That mount can break very easily when you crash. I know from personal experience.

you’ll ruin your shorts or your skin if it rubs on the mount even the tiniest amount.

I’ve used old rubber bracelets for this.

I need to buy a phone holder (waterproof) for navigation, however, I found that the handlebar is quite unusual, it is rectangular shape not round like most of the bicycles handlebar.
would it not be easier to bridge the M shaped handlebar with a secondary handle, then mount it onto that?
Can you please elaborate more, how to do that!
you shoud be able to improvise one.

the screen protectors that come with any of the cases suck haha.
You won't need a case for the bolt.
I think you're overthinking this.
the cover did a god job protecting the bolt, that alone was worth the cost.
