Snoop's Take

The Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners are an innovative solution designed to securely fasten prefold and flat cloth diapers, replacing traditional safety pins. With over 80 million units sold, these toddler-sized fasteners cater to children aged 1-2 years and are celebrated for making diapering easier and safer for parents. Consumer sentiment highlights that Snappis are easy to use and significantly reduce the risk of injury compared to pins, with one user stating, “I’ve hurt myself far less with pins.” Many parents appreciate how Snappis work well with various cloth materials, and the lifetime guarantee for broken fasteners is a reassuring aspect of the product. However, some users have expressed concerns about durability and safety as their children grow more dexterous. Overall, despite some negative feedback regarding durability and safety for older children, the Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners are generally recommended for parents seeking an effective and user-friendly fastening solution for cloth diapering.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Works well with flour sack towels
Birdseye flats and muslin flats work great with a snappi.
I snappi our flour sack towels from Walmart with no issues! I got some secondhand GMD unbleached birdseye flats and I will say that they hold more than the flour sack towels though.
Snappi fasteners are recommended for use with Gerber cloth diapers
What do I even do with these? I wasn't really planning on doing cloth diapers to begin with, so I'm pretty lost.
Great burp cloths! But if you want to use them, buy some snappis and covers.
Snappis are easy to use
Snappis are easy, don't overthink it!
using a snappi makes things way easier though.
Just get snappis, there’s a learning curve for sure but damn do they work.
I use the snappies and I've never had an issue.
Snappis make diapering easier
I don’t want to use the snapped ever again I’m not exaggerating. My baby seems to be in between sizes and I can’t get a good fit with the snaps.
Snappis reduce the risk of injury compared to pins
I’ve hurt myself far less with pins.
Lifetime guarantee for broken fasteners
the Snappis company will absolutely replace the broken ones for you. They told me they have a lifetime guarantee.
Snappis work well for toddlers
They hold well on birdseye or muslin weaves but suck at keeping everything together with flannel.
Thank you! Very informative. And reassuring :)
Snappi is preferred over Boingo and pins
Snappi > Boingo > Pins
Snappis are easier than pins
Snappis are easier than pins.
Snappi fasteners are effective with prefolds
Is this enough to get started with? Any tips on laundering them?
I would recommend getting a couple of Snappi fasteners instead of pins, personally.
Snappis are easier to use than expected.
FWIW, I expected snappis to be more difficult than they really are! It didnt take much to get the hang of them.
I find Snappis to be 100% worth it.
Snappis help secure prefolds effectively.
They wouldn't stay on without snappis.
Now I trifold and life is much simpler that way!

Overall I feel really clueless and I don’t have a lot to do but just sit here and overthink.
I like prefolds bc they are easy to use and wash.
Snappi fasteners provide good security for diapering
I like the ease of use with the prefolds and covers.
Snappis make diapering easier.
Without it it's super frustrating to get a cover on it while holding her still and holding the diaper closed.
Yes! When babe was tiny and pooped with every feed, we did a lot more jelly roll folding and snappi-
Snappis do not damage prefolds when used correctly
Question about snappis I thought I had decided to use flats/ prefolds but my CD master sister told me that snappies destroy them.
I'd be questioning her "mastery" there. I've never heard this, and my own prefolds have zero damage from snappis.
They only destroy them if you don't know what you're doing. You can't rip the snappi through the fabric and expect it to be ok.
Snappis are effective for diapering
they work great for diapering my kiddo.

Snappis can break within a few months
Looking for durable diaper fasteners (not pins) I've had two sets of Snappi's break in 9 months.
Concern about durability compared to alternatives
Boingos are pretty durable and are a better fastener design than Snappis, IMO.
Snappis can be more trouble than they're worth.
we used the snappi for less than a week and found it was more trouble than it's worth.
Snappis can be forgotten or abandoned.
Snappi, pins, or nothing? I bought Snappis and traditional diaper pins for prefolds inside a cover.
Concerns about safety with older children
I use snappis, but as my baby is getting older and more dexterous I worry she will get to the snappi and eat it/ choke on it so I don’t use them much anymore.
Snappis can rip or pull threads of prefolds
If you're gentle with them, this wont ever be an issue.
Snappi feels too tight and difficult to fasten for some users.
Newbie here. Snappi feels way too tight, have to stretch hard to fasten.
you need a bigger diaper if you plan to pin/snappi, there needs to be overlap.

Yay I'm not the only one with a huge 3 month old! Mine is at least 15 lbs now, and I just ordered some "premium" China cheapie prefolds so i no longer have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM!

When you say padfold the prefolds, do you mean just folding them and using them as inserts?
I wouldn't pay $275 for a used lot.
