Snoop's Take

The Shure by Gator Deluxe Articulating Desktop Podcasting Mic Boom Arm is designed to securely hold a variety of vocal microphones for broadcasting, podcasting, and live streaming. This boom arm features a cable management channel and a clamp that attaches easily to most desks or tables, providing flexibility and convenience for content creators. Consumer feedback on this product has highlighted several concerns regarding its quality and design. Many users have noted that Gator stands are often considered low quality, with one user mentioning, "the clutch for the boom sometimes doesn’t tighten enough." Additionally, durability issues seem to be a recurring theme, as another user remarked, "I still occasionally whack my boom while gesticulating for no reason." Given the mixed reviews and notable concerns about the boom arm's durability and functionality, it may be advisable for potential buyers to explore other options within the same category before making a purchase. While it serves its purpose, the recurring issues raised by users may affect long-term satisfaction with the product.

The reason I've fallen out of love with boom arms is that they're so damn ugly, clunky and a bitch to move around.
I went boom and never looked back.

the clutch for the boom sometimes doesn’t tighten enough.

These are around $49 for the 38” and work amazing.
For $50 you can't really beat it.
Happy with them so far.
Discussion on various boom arm recommendations and user preferences
the Gator ones being the worst offenders.
The unanimous answer is K&M 210/9 model boom stand.
Atlas MS-10/12/20 (depending on your fancy) for round base stands.
I've been using a DR Pro, and it's been better than most mic stands I've used.
Discussion on preferred mic stand brands
I wouldn't buy anything else.
K&M or no stand.
K&M tripod or atlas round base.
Could I just buy a $40 replacement K&M boom arm to throw on my cheap ass Musicians Gear stands to make them half decent?
Discussion on mic stand preferences
the number one reason for having the boom is that you don’t have to edit out the sound every time you move it.
Why not both?
Debate on boom vs tabletop stands
The only desk space it takes is 2" in a corner I would likely not use.
Just fold a tea towel in half and put the mic stand on it.
