Snoop's Take

The Secura French Press Coffee Maker is a robust, 34oz stainless steel device designed to brew a full-bodied cup of coffee with ease. Engineered from 18/8, 304 grade stainless steel, it promises durability and a refined taste through its three-layered filtration system. Users can't help but appreciate its rugged design and tongue-in-cheek durability – one review even quipped, “Makes good coffee, could also be used to clobber a bear.” Feedback consistently praises its long-lasting construction, ease of cleaning, and the unique ability to extract a strong flavor profile, while the price point is cheekily endorsed as almost equivalent to the cost of the entire contraption. In summary, this French press not only holds its own in its category but stands out for its durability and performance. For those seeking a reliable, stylish coffee maker that delivers both humor and high-quality brews, the Secura French Press is a clearly recommended choice.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Metal French press durability over glass
Anybody who claims they can taste the difference between a $10 French press and a $100 model, using the same brew method, is probably lying.
I've broken so many glass ones, but I just like being able to see the coffee inside :(
I bought a metal one to replace it so it will never break, and will probably last me the rest of my life.
my cheap glass ikea french press is going on 5 years, and still kicking.
Insulated stainless steel models maintain coffee heat
Added bonus for not being able to break it.
Don't know why I bothered with glass all those years, it is such a no-brainer!
it keeps the coffee hotter for longer.
Glass one = having to microwave coffee #2 of the day
Preference for gritty versus clean coffee taste
I bought one recently and it makes a cup that's too clean for my taste. I associate FP with a very gritty cup and the Espro killed that for me.
I even go as far as to add a paper filter to my espro press - as I prefer the oils to be removed, even less grit.
Stainless steel durability over glass
If yours is like mine, it has the added benefit that it is heavy enough to use to defend your home against intruders, and have a piping hot cup of coffee ready for them when they eventually regain consciousness!
Yeah, I won't break it if I drop it, but I may break the floor haha!
Found this on amazon for quite cheap, and seriously, I dont know how anyone could break that.
I just broke my 3rd glass one last week, thanks for the recommend

Brewing technique outweighs equipment differences
Brewing technique is way more important.
Thanks that answers what I was wondering about quality.
No difference in taste, really.
I see no difference between that one and my old Kona or Bodum presses.
Uncertainty about manufacturing origins
That has actually been asked in the Amazon questions - someone said it states it's been made in Wisconsin and NOT China.
Yeah secura has a lot of products that are the same design of a bunch of other brands (see their milk frothers) but all their products have good reviews so even if it's made in chine doesn't mean it's a bad or faulty product.
Not US made, but I love my Freling.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Controversial opinions on stainless steel affecting coffee taste
I can't drink coffee from a Yeti tumbler.
Hahahaha, yeah - the glass one definitely doesn't bring anything unpleasant.
Glass tastes so much better, but I got metal too cuz I'm clumsy af
People above are saying it does, but I never noticed when I switched over.
Excessive plastic components in some French press designs
Filter parts has a lot of plastic though.
I'm with you- I hate plastic touching my coffee...
IKEA French press durability and longevity
The IKEA French press has lasted me longer than any of the more expensive ones.
I came here to also vouch for the IKEA French press. Been using it almost daily for years.
I’ve had the Ikea press in the past and liked it!
This! Mine has a shattered pour spout (spouse dropped a pyrex measuring cup on it in the strainer, didn't notice).
Heating difficulties with stainless steel design
You'll end up with milk solids stuck to the bottom and that is no good.
Assuming that it's a double wall, it will take forever to heat the milk. You may be able to drill a hole between the inside/outside layers, fill with water, and create a double boiler, which actually might work pretty well.
