What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
High-quality handmade boards
They're functional and they're high quality.
As far as I know, all of their boards are.
Durable and long-lasting boards
They last forever. Especially bamboo.
Comfortable and good flex for cruising
Damn good cruiser, perfect flex.
Fun and enjoyable to ride
Sounds weird but I’ve really enjoyed it for dancing, stable cush ride.
Great condition of vintage boards
Looks to be in great condition
Smooth ride experience
Super smooth ride
Rolls well on various surfaces
I've got this one, it hurts my feet when I ride it long because they hang off.
Good quality trucks for speed and hills
the trucks it comes with (also made by S9) are really good for speed and hills.
Reputable brand
I actually bought the Sector9 board on the left. It’s arriving this Thursday, but I’ve heard that Sector9 is a very reputable brand
I’d also second the Sector 9. I have one and love it.
Sector 9 and arbor are both plenty reputable.
Recommended as a first board
what do you guys think of Sector 9 as my first board? These are the ones available at one of the stores I went.
Durable and long-lasting
I still have it. I had to replace the trucks, wheels, and bearings due to a skitching accident but Sector 9 is the only longboard I would buy if I had to do it again.
for a cruiser, sector 9 is one of the best brands you can get. I had a sector 9 cruiser for like 7 years and treated it like trash and it held up nicely.
Good for cruising
Hey guys, I am a total beginner at skateboarding, and I was thinking about getting a sector 9 skateboard (looking for cruising/longboarding).
Some models have good components
their downhill division is really good. the minishaka is really good. their wheels are really good.
Good for beginners
Sector 9 gets my endorsement.
The Sector 9 hate train has died down significantly as of late, but the hate for Original seems to just get worse and worse.
Decent entry-level boards
nothing wrong with that though, it's a decent way to get your feet wet.

Perceived as a lower-end brand
Sector 9 is a lower-end retailer, yes. But they still make good quality products and allow many people to get into longboarding who may have been turned away by the exorbitant prices set by other companies.
People just say that because you can buy them at Zumiez. They're main stream, you know? Serious gear whores get annoyed when idiot kids go "Landyachtz? Never heard of it! You gotta get a Sector 9!" because that's all they've heard of.
Perceived as low-quality for price
I've heard bad things about sector 9 longboards, anyone care to prove this wrong?
My first board was a S9 and broke after 2-3 weeks of riding.
They make low quality boards and charge significantly more than other companies.
I try to save money everywhere I can on gear and boards.

Excitement for spring riding
Sector 9 longboard. Can't wait to ride it this spring!
Can't wait for spring too. Roads have been wet for so long here. And it's cold!
Yeah, that looks like it’ll be a hell of a fun ride.

Discussion about brand alternatives
I highly highly recommended anything Arbor, I absolutely love their products.
Discussion about older Sector 9 models and their availability
It was my dads, and if it broke I'd love to be able to find a new one.
The board will break some day, and I would love to find which brand it is; my dad is no longer around so he can't exactly tell me and I'm very new to longboarding.
OP you have a Sec 9 Bamboo Zen circa 2005-2006-might have been available in 2007 but unsure.
Suggestions for contacting Sector 9 for identification help
You could always contact them and see if they can help you identify it.
Discussions about brand pricing fairness
They write a lot of pseudoscience things on their website and whatnot to make it seem like they know a lot more, which tricks a lot of new longboarders to buy Original.
Personal preferences influence brand loyalty
I don't have a problem with S9. I have a problem with a lot of people that ride S9's, however.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Diverse opinions on brand reputation
They're all good boards and you should try as many as you can to get a picture of what you do and do not like.
Nostalgia for past Sector 9 products
Sector 9 Catalog from 1997 These were little - 4” x 6” but they were so full of stoke and cool products!
My first longboard was a Sector 9 from 1998, something like the Cloud9.
Discussion about downhill riding in the late 90s
Late 90s downhill was nuts. Them riders be doing near 60mph on pintails with tkps and round lipped wheels.
Community engagement about product choices
Trying to decide which longboard to get? Been looking at Sector 9, open to others.
Sentimental value associated with older boards
if it has sentimental value, hang it on a wall now, and get a new deck to ride.
Discussion about different board brands
I wanted a longboard for sliding, cruising, and freeride.
bro check out churchill you litterally can not go wrong
Zumiez doesn't really have a good selection of boards, but it you really wanna buy one from there I would go with Arbor.
Community bias against certain brands
What's with all the hate towards Sector 9 and Original?
