Snoop's Take

The Rockville APM8D is an 8" active powered studio monitor speaker pair designed for music production, mixing, and gaming. With a powerful bi-amped Class-D amplifier delivering 500W peak power, these speakers promise studio-quality sound with rich bass and clear highs. However, consumer sentiment reveals concerns about the quality of Rockville audio products. Many users perceive them as low-quality and cheap, with one saying, "Rockville audio is cheap junk, and I would especially not use cheap junk for a school PA system that will be used in emergency cases." Others have reported issues with muddy mids and treble when played louder, stating, "they really ARE that bad for the price." Given the mixed reviews and notable criticisms regarding audio quality, the Rockville APM8D may not be recommended for those seeking reliable studio monitors. Potential buyers should weigh the price against the feedback before making a decision.

Love the honesty - You always feel a bit of confirmation bias when people ‘review’ their own purchases.

Off-topic chatter about audio setup advice
this needs to be a *low budget* production - **less than a $1000 for sure, less than $500 ideal.**
Honestly I think you'll need to hire a professional consultant.
If you want the ability to connect projectors and microphones, you're talking about needing a mixer, amplifiers, proper sound distribution, etc.
For a barebones system in your budget I would do a powered speaker on a stick like a QSC K10 with a Bluetooth receiver off Amazon.
General discussion on audio setup and configurations.
basically, for your magni setup, the routing will go from the amp's phono output into the subwoofer inputs and with a separate cable from the subwoofer's outputs into the 4.5's inputs.
Discussion on appropriate use of studio monitors
Do not ever fucking use them to DJ. Ever.
Monitors are ideal for private listening, but I've played plenty of parties with my monitors and they rocked the house.
they sounded pretty great.
they're pretty fucking loud and I imagine would be just fine for a house party.
