Snoop's Take

The Neewer 2 Packs Dimmable Bi-Color 480 LED Video Light and Stand Lighting Kit is designed for creators who need versatile and bright lighting solutions for photography, videography, and online content creation. With a total of 480 bi-color LEDs, it provides customizable lighting options that make it suitable for various shooting conditions. Consumer feedback highlights the product's affordability and value for money, with many users stating, "Neewer has a large, affordable ecosystem that appeals to me solely for the price." Users appreciate its performance, especially praising its brightness and versatility, while some new users find it suitable for beginners. However, there are concerns regarding durability and professional appearance, as reflected in comments about the need for a professional upgrade and the potential for color shift over time. Overall, while the Neewer 2 Packs Dimmable Bi-Color 480 LED Video Light is an excellent option for budget-conscious creators, it may not meet the needs of those requiring high-end professional lighting. Therefore, it is recommended for beginners and casual users who prioritize affordability over absolute quality.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good value for money
Neewer has a large, affordable ecosystem that appeals to me solely for the price.
I can only afford neewer products and so far have no complaints.
I haven’t had them long yet, just a couple of weeks, but I have a pair of the MS150C RBG lights from Neewer and they seem great for the money.
Absolutely a vote for neewer for me, very good value and been using them for years.
Good value for budget lighting setup
I actually just built a fairly robust single-subject focused lighting setup with mainly Neewer gear for sub $900 on prime day.
Best affordable lights used
they are the best, most affordable lights I’ve used.
Portable with multiple power options
The ability to power them via plugging them in and through the NPF batteries or a D-Tap makes them extremely portable.
Affordable and good for beginners
Looking at the neewer 660, as they're cheap and get good reviews.
Get two, and spend the savings on a pile of NP-F batteries (which the lights eat).
Versatile for different shooting scenarios
You can definitely get away with 2 for most shoots but there will be times where you will wish you had 3.
More is better.
Good performance and brightness
Absolutely fantastic. Unbelievably bright.
Its a good light.
Affordable option for continuous lighting
You won't match the power, but look at Neewer or Yongnuo LED video panels. I like the Neewer's myself.
Versatile for different shooting styles
it would be way easier with continuous lights. Either way, it won't hurt to have a few continuous lights at hand for future projects.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Durability concerns
the Neewers may not hold up as well if you’re doing a lot of location work, loading and unloading the gear.
Does not look professional
it doesn’t look professional and I charge a pretty high price so im looking for a professional upgrade.
Older model with outdated color science
I don’t recommend that light, it’s several years old at this point and their color science has gotten way better over the past few years.
I don’t recommend that light, it’s several years old at this point and their color science has gotten way better over the past few years.
Color shift over time
They tend to use cheap LED beads and overdrive them to get the stated specs.
I would say, only buy these if you have to - and if you have to, go with the square ones.
Severe color spill issues
The Magenta and green color spill is incredible bad.
Quality concerns and comparisons to competitors
The Neewer Equipment is in my personal experience always the lowest of the lowest possible Quality.
100% this. I have been using the Neewer 660s for a couple months now and finally upgraded to a Godox SL-200 and its night and day difference.
Not suitable for larger spaces or complex lighting
Panel lights are somewhat limited as hard/soft sources. And they are terrible if you're trying to cut spill.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General satisfaction with current LED lights
if you intend to use the tools to make money, it almost always worth the added upfront cost.
Comparison of LEDs and upgrades
Thats funny I was just watching a video about that specific light.
Discussion about lumen and lux measurements
What seems a little disingenuous to me is that this is measured with the supplied reflector.
Lumens is total light output.
Lux is for Set Designers, Lumens is for Cinematographers.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Perception of Neewer as a budget brand
Do you think that’s possible and people just see them as cheap?
Comparison of LED lighting brands
In general, LED lighting brands from China go: NoName<Newer/B&H Gradus Group/ProMaster<Godox/GVM<Amran<Nanlite<Aperture<Nanlux.
Ambiguity in defining 'budget' lighting
What does “budget” mean? It’s a pretty broad term.
“Budget” is a broad term no one can define.
Discussion about multiple lighting options for beginners
I think a set of two or three Neewer panels is enough for first steps in video making.
Comparison of different lighting brands and their specifications
Their lights are exceptionally small, ditching the traditional 'can' shape for a more compact, travel-friendly and heat tolerant design.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Preference for Godox lights over Neewer
Does anyone have any recommendations on whether Neewer or Godox lights is the best route to go?
get the Flashpoint lights from Adorama. They're Godox lights, just better warranty.
Godox. Neewer might get there one day, but Godox keeps getting better and adding more products to their lineup.
Godox. And it isn’t close.
Discussion about brand reliability and reviews
Can you point us to an objective, empirical review that actually shows that Aputure make better COB lights than Neewer?
Sorry, but your argument rather smacks of gate-keeping, in addition to being nonsensical.
