Our set is 22 years old this October and still outstanding.
Solid but it does go on sale 20$ off from time to time.
Excellent. Highly recommend.

Rust and durability issues with Mikasa flatware
I bought Mikasa set at Costco and returned them because some of them rusted.
That's what I read about the Mikasa Harmony set, not sure about other lines.
Some start oxidizing and rusting, like it's plated instead of the same metal throughout.
Stainless steel quality concerns (18/0 vs 18/10)
Is this a good buy even the silverware is 18/0 and not 18/10?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Flatware reported to last for decades
I've had a Zwilling set for 15+ years and they still look great.
My Oneida is going strong some 30 years later.
I still have tongs from the restaurant row on bowery in NYC, 10 years ago or more.
the vast majority of 18/8 flatware is going to outlast its owner.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Alternative purchasing channels offer durable, affordable flatware
Mine were very affordable and will likely outlast me.
If you're looking for everyday use flatware and not holiday silver, those are the best places on earth.
This is such a good idea!
You will never use something as much or be as hard on it as a commercial kitchen.
Sterling flatware care and maintenance challenges
The only special care they need is handwashing with non-scratch sponges, so nothing too annoying.
Solid - definitely.
But apparently you can easily remove tarnish by soaking it in hot water with aluminum foil and baking soda.
the pain of having to care for Sterling is what stops me from using it as an adult.
Store recommendations for dinnerware sets
Hit up Bed Bath and Beyond to see what stock they have left (it will be at least 30% off.)
Advice on selling dishware sets
I really like dishes though, so at this point I know what's common and usually only look up 2-5 patterns before knowing if there's anything there.
I've packed and shipped full dish sets and the amount of money I made was not worth the time, cost of packaging and hassle it was to package it all up.
I get more sales and a higher ROI on Etsy for vintage dinnerware than when I’ve tried eBay.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Corelle dinnerware durability concerns
We had the misfortune of breaking two Corelle plates and one bowl within 10 days.
when they do break, you have hundreds of little scalpels everywhere!
I'm sticking with the plain white Corelle.
They explode in to the tiniest and sharpest bits of glass I’ve ever experienced.
Mikasa bone china dinnerware quality issues
I think overall price wise it's a good value for all the pieces, I just make my husband be more careful now and my toddler only uses plastics.
I don’t like Mikasa.
this is a lower quality than Mikasa has made in the past.
