Snoop's Take

The Maelstrom Backpack Cooler is a versatile and practical cooler backpack designed to keep your food and drinks cold during outdoor adventures. With its leakproof and insulated features, it can hold up to 36 cans and keeps items cold for up to 16 hours, making it an ideal choice for camping, hiking, and beach outings. Consumer feedback highlights the cooler's reliable performance, with users noting that "it's reliable and not too pricey." However, some concerns arise regarding the efficiency of soft-sided coolers in comparison to traditional options, as one user mentioned alternatives like Techni-Ice. Overall, the Maelstrom cooler backpack is appreciated for its organization and comfort, but potential buyers should consider the general limitations of soft-sided coolers. In conclusion, the Maelstrom Backpack Cooler is recommended for those seeking a lightweight and efficient cooler for casual outdoor use, despite some users noting that soft-sided coolers may not perform as well as traditional models.

Comparison between different cooler types (backpack vs traditional)
Just trying to make a decision. Any thoughts appreciated.
They do have a full backpack version too. The ice mule keeps things very cold, doesn't leak and it will float while you are tubing down a river or if you are wading while fly fishing.
General discussion about cooler capacity needs
What are you packing in the coolers that require so many? We use a 40qt cooler for 3-4 nights' worth of food when we go camping, and that's all we need.
Maybe you can compare specs and see which cooler has the thickest walls and lids overall while still having a large internal capacity so you can fit everything you need in as few coolers as possible?
The current plan is to upgrade one of the coolers and use that for food (more important to keep cold) with leftover space for extra drinks, and one of the junky ones for drinks.
