Snoop's Take

The Lucky Love Dog Martingale Collar is a premium, no-slip collar designed for medium-sized dogs, particularly effective for breeds like Whippets and Greyhounds. This collar ensures a secure fit and prevents slipping, making walks more enjoyable for both the dog and owner. Many users praise its effectiveness, with one saying, "A properly fitted and used martingale will not choke a dog," highlighting its safety features. Additionally, it is noted for its ability to accommodate unique neck shapes, providing comfort without compromising security, making it a recommended choice for dog owners seeking a reliable collar option. The collar is highly regarded for its secure design, with feedback indicating that it keeps collars securely in place without the risk of slipping. As one user pointed out, "There was no position the dog could take to make the leash slack," which emphasizes the collar's reliability during walks. Additionally, its unique design caters to dogs that typically escape other collar types, making it a popular choice among pet owners with breeds prone to collar slipping. Overall, the Lucky Love Dog Martingale Collar stands out for its effectiveness and comfort, marking it as a top choice in its category.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective for dogs that slip collars
we recently switched to a flat Martingale collar since it worked on our other dog (a chunky dachshund who routinely wiggles free of her flat collar).
Her head is oddly smaller than her neck, and she can slip collars easily because of this (she’s a pyr / boxer mix).
Maybe it’s uncomfortable?
Effective for dogs with unique neck shapes
Thank goodness for it!
A lot of Samoyeds use them as well. You can leave them loose so you don't mat their fur but tighten up.
My collie had to wear one too! Anything else would slide right off lol
Keeps collar secure and prevents slipping
I see nothing wrong with a properly adjusted martingale collar.
Effective for secure collar usage
There was no position the dog could take to make the leash slack.
Many pet owners just use them as collar the dog can wear loosely but won’t slip over their head.
Most people just use them as a secure collar that won’t slip over a dogs head.
Pressure is evenly distributed with martingale collars
Most of my trainers said martingale collars are better than flat collars.
A properly fitted and used martingale will not choke a dog.
Preference for martingale collars
I use martingales mostly but occasionally I will use a gentle leader with clients if the dog doesn't find it too aversive.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Different trainers have varying opinions on collar types
I understand why people are against martingales, just like how people are anti-prong and anti e-collar.
Dogs' comfort with different collar types
Love a nice buckle collar or a martingale for pavement walks.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Martingales are used incorrectly by some pet owners
Martingales are designed to work with a pressure/release, with the dog learning that pulling = tight, uncomfortable collar and falling into heel/loose leash = not tight and uncomfortable collar.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Dogs react differently when wearing collars versus not wearing them
Actually dogs can recognize when they “have a job to do”.
My old dog Jet definitely did but dogs are totally a case by case basis haha
My dog was definitely a lot more naughty and cheeky when I took the collar off and it remained off for a while.
I noticed it was marking my boys fur a lot so I took it off and at first he freaked out, but then he got use to not having on around the house.
Some dogs may dislike wearing collars
He has escaped collars in the past so I thought a martingale would help.
