What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Smooth, close shave with proper technique
Only used for the shaving cream-soap-gell. Aftershave liquid, balms, moisturizer you can use your hands - fingers to rub it on your skin.
The King C is all about tight angle and very little pressure.
Preference for Gillette blades over competitors
I have thick hair, and I only shave every other day, so I need some **sharp** blades.
Nice summary. I’ve used the Wilkinson, which I also think are great.
I really like the Nacets, my current go-to after buying a large pack.
Sharpness of Gillette Platinum blades
These two blades, which I suspect are identical,
7'O Clocks Black, Nacet and Platinums are very similar if not the same.
Smooth and close shave experience reported
I still notice tiny nicks with the Harry's, although they go away right away so it is not a big deal.
Gillette has made me a believer in using the Fusion.
Comfortable shave with no irritation for some users
my skin is never irritated.
Fusion is a game changer in getting an absolute close shave.
Sharp and gentle shave experience
They are sharp but quite gentle.
Effective heating feature enhances shaving experience
The heating effect of the razor was much more pronounced and getting that BBS shave feel was easier to achieve.
Great shaver when it works. Had (2) different ones, each lasted about 18-months before battery failing.
Long-lasting blade performance
Difference between Gillette ProGlide and Fusion? I see both are the same price but I can’t seem to notice a difference.
Less clogging compared to other razors
Personally my favorite Gillette cartridge ever made is the Gillette Sensor.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Irritation from shaving with Sterling razor
Got a Gillette Sterling. Have sensitive skin. Need blade suggestions.
Sterling razor may be aggressive for some users
If you are applying pressure dont!
Game changer .76 safety razor. Get a $10 omega shave brush and shave soap like noble otter.
Not all blades are suitable for the Sterling razor
I would not recommend using SP blacks with that razor, even though Gillette sells it with those blades.
Laser Ultra. Mild & very smooth.
SWITCH TO SAFETY RAZOR IF YOU WANT TO SHAVE OFTEN.
Blades are overpriced
the blades are really overpriced.
Knurling on the razor handle is not very effective
It’s fairly ubiquitous and not terribly expensive.
BIC blades cause nicks and poor results for some users
Today I shaved with BIC blades for the first time and got possibly the worst results with them.
Bic sucks balls
BIC blades can be abrasive on the first use
Sometimes they feel a little abrasive on the first go.
Learning curve for using safety razors
A DE razor takes a different technique to that of a cartridge, so there's a bit of an adjustment and learning curve.
Blades considered overpriced by some users
Personally, I find the new Gillette stuff to be overpriced.
Some users experience razor burn or bumps
Many people get razor bumps or burn with the Fusion. Which is why they came out with the SkinGuard.
I expect a 50% improvement in going from 1 to 2, going from 2 to 3 results in a max improvement of 17% and so on.
Skepticism about the necessity of heated feature
isn’t rinsing your razor under hot water approximately as effective and way cheaper.
Concerns about company practices and product longevity
Gillette Has it all Wrong. It will be there Down Fall.
Blades dull quickly in some cases
Anyone else finding the blade quality isn’t the same?
Replacement cartridges are expensive
Multiple blades are generally hard on the skin, and the replacement cartridges are insanely expensive.
Plus, they’re really expensive over the course of a year.
Preference for fewer blade razors
Razors with fewer blades are generally better than those with more blades as they're less likely to leave you with razor burn or ingrown hair.
Gillette Fusion not preferred
Gillette fusion sucks.
Handle feels cheap and poorly constructed
Feels like Gillette said ‘let’s construct the handle cheaper but make it look stylish’
The only purpose of those razors is to make your pocket lighter while saving money for the company.
Gonna return it and save up for a single blade or something
Skinguard cartridges are more expensive than Sensor Excel
Gillette even has a single blade pivoting cartridge razor called the Gillette Guard, which is even more comfortable to use than the Skinguard or the Sensor Excel, but it is not sold except in developing countries.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Modern blades fit older Gillette safety razors
The blades seemed to have a more rounded shape back then compared to the rectangular blades of today
Modern blades were designed to fit older razors
The overall shape is still the same. Modern blades will work fine in a vintage razor.
Modern blades work great in it.
Discussion about blade manufacturing and origins
The notion that P&G would order Russian blades from anyone other than their own operation is, to be honest, fanciful.
I just looked at the back of the box and they say they are made in China.
Discussion about the King C Gillette razor impressions
I really like the look and feel of the thing and I’m happy I bought it.
So glad you posted a review! Initially I only saw the unboxing video pop up on YouTube and thought to myself, "I need the full Cosmo review, too".
I popped the unboxing video up and then played with the thing for a while before getting around to using it and writing something up.
I would expect the blades to be one of Gillette's own products out of Russia, most likely the Gillette Platinum since the box mentions a platinum coating.
Discussion on Gillette's ownership of various blade brands
Complete list of Gillette manufactured double edge razor blades Hey guys, I'm trying to put a list together of all the current DE razor blades that ~~Gillette~~ P&G makes or owns.
"Makes or owns" is a little unclear. I don't think Gillette makes any DE blades.
Since you seem to know what you're talking about, can I assume that all the PPI blades are the same?
Not even close. They are very, very different.
Discussion on coating differences between blades
Theoretically, this affects how smooth and durable the final product is.
Is one typically sharper or stronger than another?
Mention of various blade brands and types available
There's a huge amount of blades that have Gillette in the name.
Comparative experience with other Gillette razors
I also have the Gillette Guard and after using it, I must say that it does not shave anywhere near as well as the SkinGuard.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on alternative shaving methods like Straight Razor Shaving
Haven’t had a breakout since starting.
Transitioning to safety razors discussed
The only downside is that the cartridges are so expensive, and I feel like they do not last long.
With the technique that you gain from DE razor (and shaving soap/cream), you can virtually shave with any cartridge razor effortlessly.

Techniques for better shaving results
Blade tracker should help
I went from Mach 3 to a “feather as-d2” and “leaf twig” best decision ever…… dump the Mach 3 and learn to shave with a safety razor!! (Like everyone else has said)
Discussion on switching to safety razors for cost-effectiveness
Alternatives to the expensive Gillette Mach 3 turbo blade refills? Seen a few knock off companies m
Look at the leaf 3 blade razor. Thing is effectively a single edge safety razor similar to a cartrid
I would like to make the suggestion that you explore switching to a safety razor. Blades are a lot c
Switch to a safety razor! No plastic just razor blades
Discussion on the placement and availability of safety razors in stores
There's usually only one stocked. It's either the Bevel, the Gillette, or the Wilkinson's.
Mention of preference for certain blade brands when paired with mild razors
I love my KCG. It's a mild razor, but i like that.
Discussion on shaving techniques and preparation
Shaving with a DE is a skill.
It is normal to do a couple of passes with a safety razor.
Exploration of different shaving products (gel vs cream)
If it comes out of a can, tube. Then you don’t need a brush right away.
Great, so could I use that same brush to use with an after-shave moisturizer or is the brush only for the shave cream/gel?
Comparative experience with other blade brands
They are also quite cheap.
i liked them.
Discussion on Gillette's historical pricing strategy
Gillette’s business model—both its actual business model and its supposed razors-and-blades model—faced real competition and strong limits.
It had to be something market practice related IMO.
Thanks!
Wasn’t there a change in business model though, which is what their modern approach is all about.
Discussion on switching to alternative brands for savings
Hello all, What’s the place where I can buy fillets razor reffils for the cheapest price ?
Switching to another brand (Dorco) will yield much more significant savings than trying to find Gillette on sale somewhere.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on blade recommendations and experiences
I find that riding the guard is better practice if you have an aggressive razor like the Stirling.
Thank you, will study this.
General discussion about double-edged razors and their perception
If you saw the double edge razor, you wouldn’t think it’s from Gillette because there is no big noticeable iconic text that they use for their 5 blades.
Blade performance varies greatly between users
They work great for me, feels super sharp like a Feather.
Bics and they were above average but not as good Feathers or Personna Lab Blues.
Always sharp on the first shave, even sharper on the second one.
Discussion about counterfeit BIC blades
The real ones are extremely sharp and smooth.
Concerns about shaving injuries with safety razors
Tbh my experience was a lot of blood - especially when in a hurry.
Sustainability discussion regarding safety razors
Sounds better and more sustainable.
Discussion about various blade brands and their performance
My favorite are Gillette super blue, not to be confused with the silver blues...I don't know if they are still produced, I got lucky and found an old pack.
General discussion about blade preferences across brands
Far less pressure is needed to get a close shave with a Harry's blade.
Debate on effectiveness of multi-blade versus single blade razors
I believe there was a big advantage in going from 1 to 2. Thereafter, every year or so, they seem to add MORE BLADES, to chase ever-shrinking advantages.
I keep doing back to double edge safety razors. Cheaper and a better shave.
Variability in blade performance based on personal experience
you gotta try them for yourself and evaluate.
Is there a best or is it skin type? There are also a yellow one, super 7?
Discussion on Gillette's marketing strategy with perceived value features
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
Loyalty to older models despite new releases
Both those products together work far better than anything else being sold for me.
Challenges of shaving against the grain
With a new skinguard against the grain, its perfectly clean, not a cut in sight.
