Insightful Chatter

If you fill it more than 50% and boil it the water shoots all over the stove as it passes through the spout whistle which just bubbles water.

Discussion about a different kettle brand.
Tested and seemed to work great! It goes new for $45 on Amazon.
It is very nice and works to my liking.
Stovetop kettles have aesthetic appeal and nostalgia.
I prefer stovetop simply because I like how they look and the whistling is nostalgic to me and makes me enjoy my tea making process just a little more lol.
Electric. More precise temperature control, mine has a "hold" button so I can walk out of the room and come back ready to rock and roll.
Electric kettles offer precision temperature control.
North America: Variable temperature electric kettle. Coffee and tea generally are better with greater precision in temperature.

Yep, I have a pretty darn accurate electric kettle with buttons for white, green, oolong, black, herbal, and boil.

Advice on using vintage teapots and avoiding damage
Stupid question but... how to use a nice teapot?? American and new tea fan here 😬 I just received a really really nice tea set from the 1960s that's very delicate and fragile.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, especially when you're dealing with something as precious as a vintage tea set.
if you're very worried about heat shock, you can put the pot under the tap, and start your hot water, let if fill while the water is cold, and the running water heat up, the temp will rise more slowly than just putting boiling or hot in directly (which SHOULD be fine, but if you want an abundance of caution)
Boil water separately. Don't use on stove
Questions about cleaning tea sets
With ceramic teapots/porcelain how do you tell if it's been washed out thoroughly of all tea bits, especially around the spout area?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Electric kettles are more efficient than stovetop kettles.
Even a shitty 120V electric kettle is more efficient and convenient.
Le Creuset kettle has design flaws.
If you fill it more than 50% and boil it the water shoots all over the stove as it passes through the spout whistle which just bubbles water.
Concerns about rust in kettles
Have been through multiple $20-50 tea kettles from Amazon, Target, etc. and they have all developed rust inside fairly quickly.
Concerns about burnt hands while using kettles
Pretty yes however don't you fear for burned hands? My oxo is great and I only use a dish cloth to protect my hands from the steam.
