What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Convenient for daily use and travel
A packable day pack ?
Can someone explain to me the point of sling bags? What am I missing?
Lightweight and easy to carry
Need advice ! Hello,
Packable backpacks can be better because the weight is distributed more evenly across both shoulders, but packable bags can also lack structure and hang in weird ways that can be annoying.
A bag that is tactical but looks like if it is a normal backpack.
I think will not be carrying heavy stuff at all. Mostly just lightweight essential items.
Convenient for travel and daily use
I‘ve found that as soon as I add any kind of filled water bottle to a sling or messenger bag my shoulder hurts if I carry it for much longer than 30 minutes.
Foldable design is practical for storage
The daypack is idea to carry stuff for me and my partner.
Convenient for travel as a personal item
Good reminder thank you. I was planning on bringing a packable backpack that I could use as my personal item if they were giving me grief about that.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Interest in convertible design for backpacks
I'm finding that I might be too picky! Here's what I'm looking for and some of the options I've found.
Wayyyyy better than the quilted monstrosities of my mom’s generation!
Interest in packable day packs for travel
Comparing 5 packable day packs (Osprey, Matador, Sea to Summit) + seeking recommendations
I love this bag, however over 6 months of travel, I used it far less than I thought I would, and as I prepare for another 6-12 months in Latin America, id love something that takes up less of a footprint in my bag.
Both are surprisingly tough for lightweight gear. We've used them extensively without taking any extra care of them and they've come through with no damage or deterioration.
Interest in lightweight packable daypacks for travel
Do I want a daypack, or just use my travel pack for daily activities?
I like to bring along a lightweight packable duffel bag, the kind that compresses down small and fits into its own pocket when not in use.
Worst case, just get one of the Decathlon 10l packable bags. They pack tiny and cost £3, worth carrying for emergencies.
I've been using the Matador freerain22 to pair with the dragonfly for my daily travel, it's been great that it takes up little space in the dragonfly.
Discussion about preferences between backpacks and sling bags
It really comes down to user preference and what you will be carrying.
I struggled with this too - I imagine finding something or some food you want to buy and not having enough space to bring it home in a crossbody and wishing you had a backpack.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about diaper bags as alternatives
Nappy bags can actually be cool.
Discussion about packing strategies for travel
I don't understand how you'll expect to do laundry once a week.
Definitely don’t pack a white tee. It’s going to be a pain to keep clean.
I think it would be hard to go a week with no laundry—the ability to sink wash might be nice?
You could also wear two pairs on the plane.
Interest in packable day packs for various uses
Even a $15 drawstring backpack from the nearest sporting goods store would do the job, with the advantage being it is two slim layers of fabric to pack when you aren’t using it, plus easy to open and get stuff out of at your seat.
I like a tote if some kind as a plane bag.

Interest in functional backpacks for travel
a versatile that could also be packed out for shorter trips if I want to skip checking a bag.
This backpack is definitely worth checking out if you want some serious value for your money.
Comparison to other brands
Check out the Patagonia Mini MLC - ticks all your boxes - we just got ours this week and I'm thrilled with it!
Interest in carry-on sized travel backpacks
Think light, efficient and mobile... you definitely don't need to be hauling around a boat anchor on your trip.
Discussion about various brands of packable backpacks
>Osprey Ultralight Dry Stuff Sack Just one small thing, they are Osprey Packs, not sacks.
Interest in alternative products like the Gossamer Gear Vagabond
looks like they discontinued it 😞
Discussion about lightweight options for casual hiking
I just take my regular bag. I only do day hikes for now so I don’t need something really big for multiple day hikes.
You don’t need anything special for casual day hikes.
Just get a bag and go hike. People get overly wrapped into THE BEST gear and looking at blogs and influencers and whatever.
Just get out there and have fun. Absolutely, no matter what, you’ll be fine.
Interest in lightweight travel backpacks
Our pro's and con's: Black Hole Pack: Looks to better "fit" against your body when hiking
The 26 might be effectively smaller than the 25, etc.
Mention of various brands of packable backpacks
It's held up to being used as checked luggage on short trips perfectly well, at any rate.
It's *massive* though, like 150 L or something lol.
Discussion about carry-on limits for travel
The personal item counts towards the carry on limit, so even if you brought another packble backpack, together the two bags would have to be under the limit.
Scoot has a 10 kg limit (probably the only one of the budget carriers that does, vs. Jetstar and AirAsia).
Interest in waterproof backpacks for commuting
I'd recommend checking out the FE Active Waterproof Backpack, which I've found to be very durable and highly water-resistant.
Something like the NUBILY's waterproof backpack sounds like it would fit your needs, especially for commuting without a car and need space for a laptop.
Discussion about carrying essentials in varying weather
Did you end up going with that backpack? Looking for a waterproof bag for college, also going to be a frequent biker with a laptop!

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Criticism of fold out TSA laptop features
Just an FYI, the fold out TSA laptop things are nearly useless for airport security.
Criticism of excessive packing strategies
I've been using slightly excessive amount of packing cubes with organisation as a primary goal in mind.
It’s aight, but not especially comfy, especially if I end up buying stuff.
Criticism of marketing claims about backpack durability
your backpack isn't getting in a knife fight.
