Excellent sharpness and durability of the blade
Anyone else in love with small fixed blades? What are you carrying?
Just got mine in the mail today!!!
These cut thru the lumber straps way faster than pocket knives or utility blades Gerber Convoy
These are my fixed blade knives, which should I add to my carrier/belt and why?
Comfortable and secure grip with the G10 handle
They're solid. I'm not into all their designs, but they make a quality knife.
Bud, anyone trying to sell you knife of a specific steel is trying to sell you the knife that THEY HAVE in exchange for the money that YOU HAVE.
It's 2-fold. The first being 14c28n is an incredibly well-rounded steel. The second being it is comparatively hard to mess up the heat treat.
Lightweight and portable design
They are made in China, but honestly they have comparable action to some of my more expensive knives.
I have a few 7Cr knives because they were absolutely dirt cheap, and I wanted to check them out.
People "rediscovered" it around LC200N becoming popular, as it's relatively comparable and much cheaper.
Cuts through materials faster than utility knives

Fixed blades are easier to clean than folding knives
Folding vs Fixed Blade Knives for Whitetail and Turkey
My biggest issue with folding blades is they get filth in the joint and are really difficult to keep as clean as I would like.
This right here. Fixed blade with removable handle scales so everything can get cleaned 100%.
I bought the same knife as a fixed blade that year. I don't want to use a folding knife for animal processing ever.
Fixed blades are more reliable and durable
I have never spent a lot on a folding knife. But I know my 2 fixed blade Martiini knives will always work.
Surprisingly sharp blade upon purchase
NKD: Foresail - Surprisingly good knife, DC53 steel, comes sharp, feels solidly constructed, has a smooth action.

Request for product identification in knife discussions
Thanks for posting to r/Knives! Would you be so kind as to tell us what item(s) we are looking at? (Brand, model, etc...).
Discussion on preferences between fixed and folding knives
Budget: Esee Good: Spartan blades, havocworks, toor, void tactical, syndicate knives Great: wachtmanknifeandtool.com Baller: Miller Brothers Blades, Half Faced Blades
I think they have much higher corrosion resistance than D2.
Discussion about the differences in blade steel performance
It's all in the heat treat And the honesty of the manufacturer.
I prefer 420HC and 12C27 over 7Cr17 for most purposes.
Curiosity about blade steel performance
14c28n on the other hand was designed for knives and is much easier to do well.
Curiosity about blade steel properties
Hoping to see more of this blade steel
DC53 is a different steel. It has as much carbon as 1095 and more than 8Cr13MoV, but about half as much chromium - even less than D2, about 3xs as much molybdenum, a touch more vanadium, and as much silicon.

Discussion on DIY Kydex sheath making
Making a kydex sheath is not a big problem for someone who makes Kydex holsters for guns.
I do get it that practice and repetitions are necessary, but now I prefer to get quality sheaths from others.

Curiosity about carrying fixed blade knives
Not really a need for it, I don't think, but I am curious.
Thank you for posting to r/EDC!
I really think it isn’t either of those. It seems heat treated near-optimally and cuts like a chainsaw.
Stumbled on peak ‘budget blade’ acquisition! Well it finally happened. After many years of purchasin
Curiosity about fixed blade knife recommendations
Decent brands of whittling knives for beginner/intermediate
The only one I know of that is a decent all around carving knife and available is the [OCCT Scout](https://hummul.com/occ-scout-beginner-carving-knife/).
You're right, it is a recurring question! This subreddit would benefit from a FAQ with tool recommendations.
Importance of proper knife selection for specific tasks
I cannot thank you enough!!!!
The dude asked for a decent knife recommendation, not a short history of whittling…
Concerns about online knife purchasing experiences
Hey just wanted to warn you i think the OC knives link has expired or maybe they didn't repurchase their domain, when I clicked on it, it led to a spam website claiming my computer was hacked/locked.
Looking for local retail options for knives
Are you in a larger Canadian City? Lee Valley Tools carries set or individual knives.
Curiosity about carrying fixed blade knives legally
even though I had them all packaged securely in containers in a removal bag 15 in total 12 slipjoints 3 fixed.
It’s basically up to the court to decide if your reason was valid if police decide to charge you.
The police at the time make a judgement call as to whether they believe you are committing an offence or not.
Preference for multitools over fixed blades on belts
Fixed blades on belts in general don’t really sit right with me I think, I’d much rather have a multitool on the belt and the fixed blade on the pack but I’m just some dude online.
Curiosity about budget-friendly knife options
Does the job and not bad for the price point

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about using personal knives at work
Incidents of self injury with a knife is high enough that, when caught not using a box cutter, they can just fire you.
Skepticism about fixed blade performance compared to folding knives
Sorry but I find that a little hard to believe. Cuts better than a brand new utility blade?
Discussion about California Prop 65 warning
Sorry about the inconvenience, I didn't mean to rile up anyone and stuff.
He's not kidding. That warning is specifically required by California law because some substance used in this knife is on the list of things "known to abuse cancer and/or reproductive harm".
They're all over anything mechanical in the US, nothing to really worry about unfortunately as others said.
The law was very badly written with severe penalties for failure to label, making the meaning behind it now meaningless.
Concerns about safety with handle design
This particular one may be fine but there's another model, also DC53 that had a wide handle which left the blade edge exposed and also sat very close to the back, so you could cut yourself if you don't deploy the back flipper successfully.
