Snoop's Take

The Extech CTH10A Radio Controlled Hygro-Thermometer Clock is designed to provide accurate timekeeping and environmental data by receiving time codes from the NIST Radio Station WWVB. This device features a large LCD display that shows time, relative humidity, temperature, and date, making it a multifunctional tool for monitoring indoor conditions. Consumer feedback has raised concerns about the accuracy and effectiveness of the thermometer compared to digital alternatives, with users expressing that "the thermometer is trash, you want a digital one." Many believe that analog devices simply do not match the precision of their digital counterparts, as echoed by reviews stating, "the fix is don't use analog hygrometers or thermometers." Given the prevalent negative sentiment regarding its thermometer functionality, especially in comparison to digital options, the Extech CTH10A may not be recommended for those seeking reliable temperature measurements. However, it may still appeal to users who prioritize the clock and humidity features over the thermometer aspect.

The thermometers in the tank, top and bottom, both say the whole tank is in the mid 80's.

I am slightly concerned the sensor is just faulty since i bought an open box unit on ebay...
You can buy a cheap hydrometer from a hardware store for $10.
Analog devices are less accurate than digital options
The fix is don't use analog hygrometers or thermometers. They're nowhere near as accurate or precise as they should be.
Disk monitors are only useless if you don't know how to calibrate them.

I prefer the cigar ones since they use magnets to stick on instead of velcro, easier to clean and disinfect then velcro.
