Lubricating car rubber weather stripping I have been doing research on the subject of weather stripping, and it seems like everyone has their own thoughts and opinion on the subject, so I just wanted to see what the consensus was at r/rautodetailing.
I've gotten to using this: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-08798-9013-Silicone-Grease/dp/B00GD49GTS
A second for the Honda shin etsu grease. Back in my S2000 days the guys sweared by this stuff to keep the weather stripping pliable to prevent roof leaks.
I use 303 Marine Protectant; seems to work well and has a ton of uses.
Discussion on effectiveness of Shin Etsu grease for rubber seals
Door seal lubricant? Dad bought me a can to use on my old car's door seals.
Shin Etsu grease, available at Honda dealers. Really good stuff for this.
You can buy the non-honda branded Shin Etsu silicon grease for slightly cheaper directly off of ebay.
I second this. Changed my world for when I relubricated all my window run channels and door seals for dealing with winter.
Discussion on the effectiveness of adhesive for door seals
I could still easily remove the seals and felt like they would just fall off overtime.
the real test for adhesive is 48C in my area.
Maybe the promotor is bad too?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on alternatives to rubber seal lubricants
I have used 303 rubber seal protector in the past but my European friends have been taking how much better Gummi Pflege is.
Lately I’ve been using turtlewax graphene inside job to protect and condition rubber and vinyl parts.
Which silicone spray do you use? I know some have more silicone in them than others.
It’s like half the price of the 303. I have the gummi coming as the reviews seemed pretty good.
Insights on adjusting door rollers
Is that what those 2 screws I see on the face of the bottom pane of the door are for?
Often times it’s just a dirty track so don’t jump to adjustment 1st.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on the effectiveness of various lubricants
Give the gift of grease.
DON'T use WD-40 though. WD-40 will work for a bit but then get rid of existing grease and you'll be worse than you started.
Lithium grease on hinges, rubber seals and more is the way to go.
I sprayed it on the hinge roller thing and within a couple days it was squeaking again. I went to Autozone and picked up a can of white lithium grease spray and it has worked wonderfully.
General discussion on home maintenance challenges
Never had a sliding door before so the maintenance on it is new to me
We’re in year 2 of our 2nd home and are just now figuring the house out.
