Baby loves the activity center
My guy (5mo) LOVES his activity center and it’s been a godsend for us because he is so active and requires a lot of energy all the time.
We love the activity center.
He LOVES it.
Great for active babies
The activity center is better for their development.
Great for containing baby and keeping them happy
They are great for containing baby and keeping them happy and safe when you have to step away from them.
Allows for short supervised use while doing chores
I didn't see the point in buying them if I wasn't going to use them very much.
It was a great safe place to put baby while trying to get other stuff done.
Useful for short periods of time
I told him not to buy one please and now I feel bad.
Kids sitting in one all day is an issue, but limited amounts of time is fine.
We call it the 'circle of fun' and I used it when cooking and briefly needed to set down baby.
Mine only used his activity center for 20 minutes at a time.
Great for short supervised use
great for when I wanted to sneak in a shower mid day!

Concerns about hip development
My childs PT told me to not really use them, they are bad for hip, butt, and feet.
Some activity centers are also better than others.
I believe it’s only bad if you leave your baby in them for extended lengths of time.
I heard a jumper would be a good idea for him.
Concerns about replacing natural movement opportunities
For me, one of the eye-opening moments was adding up the time our first spent in car seat, stroller, high chair, baby seat and excersaucer combined in a day.
I have also seen children who weren’t able to walk after spending a ton of time in containers.
Moderation is the most important.
Containers which prop babies up aren’t great for development.
Concerns about hip development due to activity centers
confused on the discouragement of baby jumpers/activity centers but the encouragement to let a baby stand and bounce assisted.
Jumpers = avoid. Activity centres with a platform (skip hop has a great one) that keep feet flat are fine.
We were discouraged from using jumpers and even the activity centers for this exact reason.
I’ll always wonder if my hip problems were caused by so much time in the jolly jumper.
Concerns about prolonged use
the amount of time to limit it to (15 min 2x a day is usually the recommended max) makes it a kind of diminishing return in terms of space since it's so large.
Concerns about hip development from jumpers
The general advice is to limit the amount of time baby spends in "containers".
Concerns about walkers impacting hip and motor development
They aren’t the best for their hips and motor development.
the Skip Hop activity center is the only one I’d recommend.
walkers on wheels are responsible for a lot of injuries and are actually illegal to sell in some places.
Concerns about injuries from walkers
I’m just trying to see what everyone thinks to make my final decision!
They are so dangerous, there are safer ways to encourage walking.
