Babysense has been phenomenal!.
It’s the best monitor ever.
Make sure to get the Pro version specifically that is linked.
High-definition image quality
Trying to get sleep with a baby seems stressful enough but how is such an important product full of low grade junk that breaks down, especially when it's clearly possible to do much better!
Uh yea for video editing, yes it certainly can. Macs are great workhorses for video editing. I’m a
Strong signal range without WiFi
Babysense split screen baby monitor but it doesn’t have wifi. I can walk a good distance and still have signal though.
High-quality camera performance
The cameras are great quality. We have them attached to the crib and our babies love messing with them and they drop them onto wood floors constantly and we haven’t had any issues with them working.
Good picture quality
Would prefer a non-wifi (or maybe hybrid?) monitor with a good range and decent battery life.
Good picture and easy to use.
Good reviews online
I saw The NY Times Wirecutter said they are updating their top pick for local video baby monitor to the Babysense MaxView recently
Seems like it has good reviews online at least!

Our son just turned one last week and we’ve had no problems and we are very happy with the product.
Very reliable connection (has never disconnected)
User satisfaction over time
Ours still works great after two years.

It's more of a software thing than hardware.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Users appreciate easy camera addition for multiple children
Had to replace the monitor after 4 years of use, but you can easily sync it to your existing cameras and easily add up to 4 cameras.
OP stated that a MacBook makes way more sense but they had fun building it themselves because they could.
Questions about night light functionality
Can the night light ring on the Babysense be turned off completely?
Discussion about monitor activation timing
Hinging a flat monitor on the top of a small MATX desktop case would produce a much smaller thing. AND you could adjust the tilt angle when you swung it up.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about WiFi security with baby monitors
We love it! And it's easy to add more cameras to if you have more kiddos.
I really like the Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro! It is wifi free (I had the same concerns as your husband) and has a great range, I love that it tells me the temp in baby's room.
Infant optics monitor! Not connected to WiFi so don’t have to worry about people hacking into the camera.
I am a video editor. I got tired of dragging my full tower and monitor around, so I am prototyping this all-in-one luggable centered around the smallest 4k monitor I could find.

I saw The NY Times Wirecutter said they are updating their top pick for local video baby monitor to the Babysense Maxview this week
Discussion about lighting issues in baby monitors
Baby Monitor Recommendations Hello exhausted parents!
I think it solves exactly the problem you are having with your current monitor.
It probably wouldn’t bother my LO right now (she’s 6 months), but I think it would be problematic once she hits a year because it would be distracting! That stuff bothered me when I was little. 😂
So I actually repositioned the tape and added some more, and it definitely solved the problem!
Concerns about SIDS and monitor effectiveness
Are movement/breathing monitors safe and worth it or are video monitors good enough?
Personally, I think a video monitor is sufficient.
these monitors are not proven useful or beneficial despite a lot of interest and testing.
Negative experiences with movement monitors
I eventually just yanked the breathing sensor and use it as a regular monitor.
I HATED the Angelcare, that thing was so twitchy and it gave us a million heart attacks over it.
Concerns about connection speed with phone-based monitors
I have a few web-enabled cameras at home and hate how it takes 5-10 seconds to connect.
Frustration over the lack of reliable baby monitors
Baby monitors are impossible to shop for Literally none of them have any good reviews and they seem to change their name every few months so you can't find reviews for most on the market.
Solidarity, how in this day and age is there not One. Single. Decent. Baby monitor. ?
We found much the same issue when looking for a baby monitor. In the end we went with TweetyCam. It's a small Aussie company, seems to be well reviewed and the cameras seem to do what I want.
I’m eyeing the Cubo Ai, my friend has been using it for the last year and loves it, also has great reviews on Amazon.
